4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former teacher working with Brazosport High School, I applaud the amazing Science, Math, and Language Department for being amazing. I feel that the children in this area desperately need every bit of leadership they can find. That being said, there truly is a lack of interest from the student body in anything related to academics and I feel that most of the students are getting pushed through the system. Neighboring school districts are much harder on academics and expect far more from their student as community leaders. I am all for setting a standard that can be attained, but going about it by assessing more and more students as "special needs" and dismissing terrible student conduct as permissible is inexcusable. Some great teachers, new principals and district leadership, misguided community.Other Review11y ago - Freeport Intermediate School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a terrible school! The leadership is terrible! The principle, teachers and counselors are unresponsive to the students needs. My child, who has an 80% hearing deficit, was placed at the back of the classroom. Although there was medical evidence backing his hearing deficit, the teachers denied his hearing loss and refused to accomodate his needs. They further refused communication with the parents until a lawsuit was threatened. Bullying is actually encouraged and modeled to the students by the teachers themselves. This school is so bad, that the district offers the option of choosing another school in the district with no additional fee, as this school does not meet up to state standards. DO NOT send your child to this school.Parent Review13y ago - Check out schools near 224 Coker St.

What Locals Say about Angleton

"Since I moved to Angleton 15 years ago it has grown on me and Angleton it self has grown. During the summer we have free Outdoor Concert Fridays, Market Days with over 200 vendors, County Fair in October with a huge parade, Christmas on the Square. Several new subdivisions have or being built. We have a beautiful brand new high school, stadium and baseball fields that includes a walking trail, and playground. We have two other nice parks as well. About 15 minutes south is Lake Jackson which has a Mall & theatre, many restaurants and Brazosport Community College. Angleton is a clean place with friendly people. "

"close to 288. 10 minutes from lake Jackson. 20 minutes from Pearland. 30 minutes from sugaeland and 40 minutes from Houston. lake Jackson is growing so there is stuff to do there if you hate Houston traffic. it is also close to the plants but not so close that you can see it from your back yard. the schools are good, especially the elementary schools. "Do not let kids wonder the neighborhood unsupervised. There is traffic that flows through at 30mph. And you really don’t know who everyone that may be walking their dog or going for a jog. Most likely they don’t reside in the neighborhood. I’ve only seen a handful of people that actually live here walk the sidewalks. "
