6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter attended Austin the last three years. We had moved here from another state, and she was very anxious when she started sixth grade, but her teachers and the other students were very welcoming, and she made true friends, as did we with others in the AMS community. We are POC and were a bit worried coming to the South, but it is a diverse school with students from many different backgrounds who all seem to coalesce into a caring environment that strongly encourages academic excellence and participation in the many clubs and teams that are offered. Her experiences were in the science bowl, UIL competitions, orchestra and track. Highly recommend!Parent Review1y ago - Tascosa High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur kids love going to Tascosa High School! The teachers make a strong effort to connect with the students, and my children each have clicked with a teacher mentor who have helped guide them in decisions that are important for their current and future growth and success. Par excellence is the only way to describe their orchestra and band programs, which includes a wonderful Christmas dinner concert for families and friends that is highly entertaining and memorable. As far as academics, the teachers have pushed our kids to do their very best. We have appreciated the administration and staff's flexibility and help with the kids' schedules to ensure they are able to take all the courses they require for their future studies and college applications. Also, the Tascosa Rebel football team are #1 in the state this year! It is such a diverse student body, we have seen that most students find their people and place at THS.Parent Review1y ago - Wolflin Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child is a straight A student who never struggles with adaptability, flexibility, transitions, self-regulation, or impulsivity, Wolflin still isn’t a great choice, but your child will probably skate along just fine. On the other hand, if your child has ADHD, is on the autism spectrum, has sensory processing disorder, or otherwise struggles with the skills listed above—MOVE, get a transfer, work three full-time jobs to afford private school, homeschool—seriously, whatever you need to do. In my family’s experience, the principal and a majority of the teaching faculty at Wolflin have very limited interest in helping children with invisible disabilities succeed, and will view them solely as a problem that deserves punishment. And honestly, I’ve received this same report from other parents who have been in our shoes at Wolflin as well. If you mention sensory interventions, they’ll look at you like you’re from outer space. If you feel like the administration and teachers look down on you as an adult, imagine how your kids feel. This school is much more focused on quick fixes for behavior than trying to discern WHY the behavior is happening in the first place and the what is in the best interest of the student long-term. I begged to hear positive things about my kid for years. Unless I directly reached out to a teacher and said, “what has my child done right lately?” I never heard anything positive. I could not be more thankful to be done with Wolflin.Parent Review2y ago - Amarillo Area Center For Advanced Lrn
