N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is so great. My step child could not even say the ABC's when we got custody. The child is doing so well and thriving at the school due to continued help from the teachers, principal, and faculty. I would highly recommend this school to anyone. We drive a long way to school and back, I would definitely say it is worth it!Parent Review11y ago - Sweetwater High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBelow, was written by a student of Sweetwater HS. This student explains our frustrations as parents to SHS current students (past/future too). The old saying..."straight out of the mouths of babes!" This was a terrible school. If you can't breeze through the curriculum, you're not paying attention - at all. There's no challenge, it caters to the lowest scoring students. If your child is making "decent" grades at this school, they are still not prepared for college. I realize there are "advance placement" classes. However, for those who are making higher grades than their peers, but not high enough for AP courses, there should be classes tailored to their learning abilities so they aren't slowed down. This school does not foster an environment to encourage students to excel. Never one for the any level of government to interfere...but, they need come in...fire everyone!!! Rehire the good teachers (there are a few in SHS...with their hand tied) Hire EDUCATORS!!! NOT CATERS TO THE STANDARDIZED SYSTEM!!!Student Review9y ago - Tellico Plains High School

"Mountain View’s and open spaces. Most of the people that live on the creek have been here along time. It has beautiful views of the mountains and it is very quiet and extremely nice.m"

"It is a rural country setting. Close to town. It is about 3 miles from town. Tellico Plains is a very small town with very friendly people. "

"Get yourself a fence if you care about your animals. The streets are busy. I have seen too many pets dead in the road, and too many loose dogs. "

"I wish people would not litter, throwing garbage from fast food places. Bottles, cans, clothing. I try to pick up every night when I walk my dogs. We are rural, so I think they do not care."

"We’ve lived here for seven plus years and love this area. The people are friendly and this small town attracts many tourists. We have a local bakery that is world famous and the Cherokee National Forest is just minutes away."

"Great little town. Friendly people and most services can be had here. Only occasionally need to make a trip to a bigger town"
- Elizabeth H.

"I'm biased - I make a living selling real estate, but I've lived here by choice since 1985, even when I could move anywhere in the country. Friendly people, and the Cherokee National Forest at your front door. Loved by motor cyclists, car enthusiasts, and even cycling clubs rate our mountain roads extra special. Fishing is available in rivers, lakes, ponds and streams. Artists and musicians have made their homes here, adding to the special flavor of the town. Churches are abundant, shopping is all anyone needs - but we're not far from larger towns for your major shopping trips. Come and take a look around. We have plenty of places to stay while you figure out if this is where you want to make your home."

"Lived & worked here. People make their own entertainment, lots of outdoor activities possible. "

"No place is perfect but this is a great place to live. People are friendly, like to laugh, good food everywhere. Not much going on in the evenings but you can always find something to do or be involved with. The Cherokee National Forest offers thousands of unspoiled acres. It's ideal."
