4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI currently attend Colonial, and I'm in honors classes as well as the CAPA program, specifically Creative Writing. Despite the previous comments, I find absolutely nothing wrong with the buiding. It's beautiful. However, the teachers seem slightly careless. As a 7th grader, I can say that my Pre-Algebra and Science teachers couldn't care less if you need help in certain areas. Though I do enjoy extra curricular activities and all. Just as any other middle schooler, I do dislike my careless teachers, and I look forward to certain classes, but to be fair, I did come from a private school, so I suppose that my expectations would be higher. The students are amazing and friendly. The beginning of the year may be slightly hectic, but after everyone is settled in, it's not as bad. I will be leaving this school next year and I wouldn't neccessarily recommend the school to anyone else.Other Review10y ago - Overton High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school needs some work. Throughout my sophomore year there have been many problems ranging from teachers to students. Some students really don't care and I'm in honors classes. Partially I feel some teachers don't care either. Some teach what would be taught in a special needs class. I don't feel challenged. As a WS Freshman I found myself challenged and coming from Colonial to WS I found myself not knowing the material from lacking math teachers and dedication to teaching left me struggling. Almost failing my first year, I resorted back to Overton but with a far exceeding knowledge of my previous year making the level of teaching seem easy and at a slow rate... but arts are good sadly bad reputation for everything else. The school has potential but needs order and is loosing it with every year!!!!Student Review10y ago - Willow Oaks Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school receives a 5 star rating from me. It is an excellent school that cares about ALL the children that attend the school. The entire staff is committed to the development of each student. This commitment is lead by their principal. Like I have said before, I have had two grandchildren graduate from Willow Oaks and the teachers and staff were caring and committed then just as they are with my two granddaughters that are attending the school now. My oldest grandson recently graduated from the University of Memphis and is now a part of the workforce. His manager complimented me on my grandson's strong positive character and work ethic. I know the foundation we (the family) laid for him was reinforced by the staff, teachers and principal of Willow Oaks Elementary School. My experience with Willow Oaks Elementary School has ALWAYS been positive throughout the many years my grandchildren have been attending this school. They are #1 in my book!Parent Review6y ago - Check out schools near 4260 Barr Ave.
