4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has adhd. He just turned 6. They have encouraged medicating him . I do not agree. They say he sweet and just impulsive and engages in purposeful play when he should not. He’s needed a written plan and one was requested back in the beginning of the year by his pediatrician and again requested by the school psychiatrist Jan 12. Still has not been done. When I asked they say … “ we are already doing what we can to help him “ The school psychiatrist said more needs done to make Noah feel part of and not different . In the phone meeting , it seemed the others to include his teacher and school admins weren’t on the same page with her. We should never say that we’ve done enough or all we can. I’ve been patient yet they are wanting to send him to a disciplinary school . He would not fit in . The only thing that would be good there is the one on one that he seems t not be able to get from one of the three teachers in his classroom. I’m told many times . No I can’t do that or we cant because she has 23 students to care for and don’t have the time to … well whatever it takes to ensure my sons success. I’m disappointed. They have suspended my child three times for purposeful play. He’s not disrespectful he’s not malicious and he’s very loving and caring with needs that may be a bit challenging but isn’t that school is for . Find a way to keep my child there in the classroom he loves and continues to learn in. Pushing me to support a transfer to an alternative school full of all ages and adults … metal detectors and uniforms isn’t my idea of supporting my sons needs. He needs to learn how to associate and separate his thoughts and actions where he’s going to be during school and th upcoming years. Putting him in a classroom where there’s one other child might be okay for one on one. But how’s he going to khow to socialize in school properly and learn how to focus among a classroom full of others if it’s taken away and the socialization is taken away. One gain for several other losses. I don’t know . I just feel lol if a child has adhd and you’re suspending him when he doesn’t fall right in line. For any reason . YOU ARE NOT HELPING THEM YOU'RE HURTING THEM. Please. Improve! These scores are terrible. But falls right in line with what’s going on with my son!Parent Review2mo ago - Airport High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAirport High School is really what you make of it. Make sure your student stays in the highest level of classes possible and they will be good. There are not major differences between the coursework, but there is a huge difference in the quality of the classroom. The lower level classes are filled with students that don't care about being there, being quiet or behaving, making it impossible for the students that do care to learn anything. The higher level courses, the students are well behaved and carry on insightful class conversations and make it a wonderful learning environment. I've found that majority of the teachers like the school and care about their students. Safety is not a major issue in this school- never felt threatened or saw any physical violence between students. There is a high emphasis on sports at the school and between the two high schools in Lexington II, Airport Football usually performs much better than Brookland-Cayce, and draws more attention.Other Review7y ago - Pine Ridge Middle School
