Leadership at this school does not share critical components of students' curriculum with parents. Many teachers are unfit and underqualified with the subjects they are tasked to teach. Deferrals to someone else in their hierarchy and in the context of "it isn't my job..." are the norm here. Head Principal has been caught lying to parents about curriculum, behavior issues and overall modalities used during instruction.Violent and disruptive students are moved to another classroom because leadership is afraid to act or discipline as needed, putting potentially hundreds of other students at risk.Parental rights are frequently ignored and administration continually lies by omission in regards to testing procedures and data collection of students.Teacher diversity is effectively non-existent and portrays an air of nepotism and good ol' boy tactics.Highly overated school, due mostly to ineptitude and dishonest leadership at the very top.Special education program is severely lacking the most basic accomodations. Requests for accomodation for kids in special ed programs are either ignored or deferred to another person that cannot fix the problem.Superficial community programs meant to garner community and parental involvment are used as a ruse to promote fundraising efforts by the admin.Leaking classrooms when it rains heavily. Teachers need to place a bucket to collect the water.New leadership is needed before this school measures up to the most basic expectations of learning and safety.

Having watched my brother attend their 11 years prior to my son, I have seen a vast improvement in the leadership style of Mr. Mayfield. It has been a good experience overall despite COVID. There is definitely and sense of family but also an environment where teachers will challenge students to be better not just in grades but as citizens who will be agents of change. I've only become unhappy with teaching/learning styles with the school due to the pandemic. Quite a few teachers were not able to adapt quickly enough nor were they able to be flexible enough to roll with the challenges to teach or think outside of the box to reach students. For 2 full years, my child’s test scores have been below average in math while attending this school. There is one teacher who actually does a wonderful job, if you don’t have him, go ahead and expect declining test scores for the next couple of years. For a school who boasts STEM, science, technology, innovation; the teaching here is subpar, especially in math. Thank goodness we now have a wonderful tutor that gets to fill in for 2 years of missed teaching. Fyi, these were honor level classes as well! The grade on the report card may have been an A, but the knowledge taken away— F !
