5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI got married in Dec & moved to SC from VA I’m extremely happy our lease in up now & we’re moving to a better school district. I feel bad for the students here, the scores are awful when I’m in parent pick up the teachers talk to the children on the play ground like animals. Office staff isn’t professional at all. There is always bullying going on,it’s horrible!Parent Review5y ago - Spring Valley High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my children attended all four years Spring Valley. The opportunities are endless! They can choose from basic CP classes to a wide array of AP courses depending on what best suits their needs. The teachers are accommodating, kind, and willing to work with all students, as they genuinely care about the students they teach. The principal goes above and beyond what is required for parents and students when an issue or need arises. There are a variety of clubs and athletics for anyone looking to be involved. Tutoring is available for all students if ever needed. I truly believe if your child is not successful at Spring Valley, it's due to a lack of initiative on the students part. Everything they need for success is at their fingertips, they just have to take the initiative to better themselves. I highly recommend Spring Valley and am grateful for the education they provided to my now young adults.Parent Review1y ago - Dent Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm a sophomore at this school, and it absolutely sucks. The principal doesn't even know how to take care of this school correctly. They gave cohorts to lunches now to stop fighting, but that isn't gonna stop fighting and it hasn't. The only thing it has done is cause people misery. Cohort 2, which I'm in at all times, has to wait until 1 to eat, and even then can't eat in the gym, or anything. The cafeteria is even filled with study hall kids and crowded. Plus, I was a treasure in my club and now I can't even meet with my club, because thanks to this stupid idea, my club meets during cohort 1 lunches and I'm never part of cohort 1, so while my club is going on-- I'm in 3rd block waiting for lunch! They encourage students to join clubs-- and then do this and cause some students to be unable to participate in them.Student Review2y ago - Westwood High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeaching: Teachers are extremely overworked and not supported! At the end of the 2022-23 school year, WHS loss over 26 teachers, staff, and administrators. This has to be unheard of, mainly because many of the persons who resigned are still on the roster and/ or have not been taken out of PowerSchool? This may also explain why now visitors to the school's website, can no longer find a staff directory. At the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, new students received schedules containing classes for teachers who had already resigned. The few teachers who actually care about the students and their futures are made to be substitute teachers (on all planning periods), school resource officers (during their lunch break), and babysitters for unruly students to whom the school cannot support academically or behaviorally. Instead of admitting that they are not providing an adequate number of required academic course offerings, WHS now has created a failing system of placing an overwhelming number of students in so-called study hall classes, where hundreds of students sit aimlessly in the school for two hours (part of a new so-called "4x4 Schedule introduced this year). During this time students are not only not receiving an adequate education; they are also leaving the school grounds, initiating fights, and ordering Grubhub! Why does Richland District Two not know about this???Social-emotional support:Often times we first think about the social-emotional support of the students, but what about the Social-emotional support of the teachers and staff? These working professionals at WHS; many of whom have diagnosed disabilities themselves, are provided with no accommodations or simple respect for the overwhelming obstacles faced on a daily basis working in such an unmanaged and hectic work environment. Also, there are students being bullied on a regular basis. Why don't they tell an administrator or someone in leadership, you might asl? Well, many are too scared to because of the backlash of the bullying becoming even worse, being labeled as a so-called snitch, or basically don't even know where to turn and they are embarrassed. You can't fix what you don't know about. I plead for parents to look for any kind of warning sign and ask a lot of questions!Family Engagement:There are parents and there are parents. At WHS there are some parents who cowardly school administrators allow to torment teachers, knowing fully well that the student is the actual problem!Parent Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 100 Brighton Hill Cir #G.
