5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 daughters that attended York Comprehensive, one that graduated in 2010 from the former high school and one that transferred in 10th grade to the SC Governor's School for Science and Math. As every parent wants the best for their children I am without exception. York offered a great connection and very hands on interest in both my girls allowing them to be the best possible students while encouraging and supporting their interests. The advanced courses offered are top notch and the extracurricular activities are abundance meeting a wide variety of interests. Our children have fund memories of most teachers with the exception of a math teacher that was very hard for students to understand, (which we are confident is retired by now), as well as an overloaded guidance counselor we were assigned to. The school building, technology center, and athletic fields are state of the art and represents the look and feel of a university. The district spared no expenses for their students, teachers, or faculty. Our oldest graduated college with a biology degree and our youngest is graduating from governors school this year. York Comprehensive was a great experience for our family.Parent Review9y ago - York Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've been increasingly frustrated with my son's school, particularly the dynamics within Team 7-2. It's disheartening to witness what seems like a disproportionate focus on managing classroom chatter rather than addressing real issues of bullying. What's even more concerning is the role of one of the teachers, Wanda Walker Gary, who appears to be contributing to a negative atmosphere. Her constant reshuffling of students is creating a toxic environment that's affecting my son's overall experience. There have been troubling incidents that my son has shared with me, and one involving Wanda is particularly unsettling. He recounted a situation where a girl needed to use the bathroom to change her pad, but despite repeated requests, Wanda denied her permission. The girl eventually walked out, only to receive a write-up for "being disrespectful" and leaving without permission. It's deeply concerning that basic needs are being neglected, and the punitive response is disheartening. What adds to the confusion is Wanda's inconsistent approach to seeking help. On one hand, she encourages students to ask their peers for assistance, but on the other, she reprimands them for doing so. This contradictory guidance is not only perplexing for the students but also creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and stress.I want my son to thrive in a positive learning environment, but it feels like Team 7-2 is inadvertently causing unnecessary stress and problems. I believe it's crucial for the school administration to be aware of these specific incidents so that they can thoroughly examine and rectify these issues. Open communication is key, and I hope that addressing these concerns will contribute to creating a more supportive and conducive learning environment for all students in Team 7-2.Other Review3mo ago - York Intermediate School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is just terrible. The teachers are bullies. And the Principal is to focused on what the girls are wearing. I am so glad that my child does not have to go to this school anymore. Worst school in the districtParent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 342 Beersheba Rd S.
