1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm from a wealthy district and grew up in a school with the highest test scores and most impressive resume. We won national awards and sent kids off to ivy league colleges. That doesn't interest me. People left school so dead, and uncultured, and unexcited about making an impact on the world that I don't see the relevance or value in that education. While Mitchell might not have fourth graders pre-prepared for college, what they're creating in the school is an environment that encourages students to be HUMAN. There is so much enthusiasm amongst the teachers, so much honesty upheld by the staff, so much EXCITEMENT that beams through the halls that I'd send my kids there if I had 'em. Mitchell's enthusiasm for community-based volunteer programs has made the school an integral part of our city, and there no longer exists a separation between the school and its neighbors. The kids practice yoga once a week, and once the kids reach third grade they tend to the Green Heart Garden - planting, harvesting, taste tasting - every Friday. Mitchell students are getting a circular, holistic education. One up to date. Maybe revolution begins here.Other Review11y ago - James Simons Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI actually really like this school. I feel like ethnicity nor income should downgrade a school. This is my first year attending Burke High School. No, I am not 'Black'. Yes, there are some disrespectful children at this school but their are also intelligent children like myself with high GPA's. attending Burke High. If a family is low-income than that should be left confidential. However, if these children are lowering the average test scores then they should accept the help that is being offered and if they refuse to resulting in a lowered average score they should be transferred to a a school that best meets their needs. In my opinion this is a good school that could soon be great.Student Review6y ago - Simmons Pinckney Middle School
