7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI read some of the reviews below and they appear to be from a long time ago. Not sure why JICHS has not been reviewed in a while - but it is a fantastic school. Whatever problems they had 6+ years ago.... they do not have them now. The school administration is excellent, communicative, fair, transparent and inviting. We have two children (twins / boy and girl) that are in 9th grade. They are in Pre-IB, AP and Honors classes, as well as, regular classes. All of the teachers are focused and dedicated. I know this b/c I review what my kids are learning, I speak to my children and also review materials. We also have opportunities to meet with the teachers, guidance counselors and administration. Just recently we spent almost 2 hours with the guidance counselor who was focused on their college and how to ensure that the remaining HS career is focused, enjoyable but is appropriately scaled for college (or other visions for after HS graduation). The school itself is extremely nice and maintained. I am not sure what it looked like 5 years ago, but it has been renovated and is a top-notch facility. I would suggest going to the school, take a tour, learn more about it. Don't just take my word or anyone else's word about it.Parent Review2y ago - Harbor View Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBad environment. We have to earn passes for the restrooms. I get why but there should be a different way of enforcing what the bathroom is for. Bullying situations only get worse and students' voices are not heard—public humiliation towards students. A lot of these situations can be handled on a private matter but these situations happen in front of classes which results in an increase of bullying and mental health problems. Teachers and staff are not on the same page when it comes to the students. There is only one set standard that all kids must learn from. Kids learn differently. Overall, this school needs a lot of work!Student Review10mo ago - Check out schools near 1621 Telfair Way.

"There is alot of love in Charleston, the infrastructure is small and basic, it is not equipped for the large number of people that have migrated here and crowd our roads. With the traffic ad bad as it is now, you can give up that No. 1 city in America to live in. Really though, this town still amazes me. I can't think of anywhere that I would rather be."

"Traffic is not too bad compared to other urban cities. Public transportation is inadequate. Bike lanes and sidewalks are not consistently available in parts of town, especially bridges and neighboring islands. There are some great trails for hiking and biking though and downtown Charleston is very walkable. "
