We love SASMS!!!! My daughter is in 2nd grade and has attended since kindergarten. She is excited to go each day, loves the engaging curriculum and special contests. I love how diverse the “special areas” are - she has art, music, stem, makers space, library, P.E, and second steps. Second steps focuses on emotional intelligence and understanding how other children are feeling. Her teachers each year have been unique and special. She is in classes with a children from diverse backgrounds, which is very important to us.The principal and assistant principal are engaged, and the PTA has great events, so you can meet other parents and feel a part of the community!

This school has put a lot of time and effort into building a sense of belonging and community for their students. Teachers are engaged and leaders are making positive changes daily!

I recently graduated in the class of 2024 and was a student at this school for my junior and senior year. Coming from a very highly rated school in Colorado I can see how awful this school is. There’s a few amazing teachers at this school who deserve much better. But in my experience this school is extremely unorganized And stuck in the 1980s. From having to write hand written letters and e-mails to get kids out of school to the receptionist not knowing how to count change after I had to pay all my senior fees in cash. My counselor told me to have my mom stop emailing her about concerns and refused to reschedule a meeting with me as I had to miss the day for a doctors appointment. I also got a day off in school suspension for missing a day of school due to a doctors appointment even after I provided them with a parent letter and doctors note they refused believe I wasn’t skipping even though I had 6 absences and 2 tardies the entire year. The school is also disgusting, whoever cleans the bathrooms does an awful job and can’t ever seem to restock the soap and paper towels let alone clean the floors or toilets. I don’t know when the last time the classroom floors have ever been cleaned. After bringing up a stalking and harassment incident to admin with proof of who it was and what they said the admin refused to handle it and ended up getting the person being stalked suspended for “harassment” and refused to pull cameras or do anything. It’s also the kids at this school. There are more fights in a month than I saw in my 2 years at my previous high school. In fact there was a single day that had twice as many fights. The kids here also have no clue how to act or be respectful and responsible. I’m not saying I was perfect and I get these are teenagers but people need to have some common sense. There are some incredible teachers at this school who I have loved and deserve so much better than this school. In fact one of those teachers resigned at the end of this school year. There are also teachers who take classes that have so much potential and ruin it by not doing anything besides watching YouTube videos and answering questions. I hope the new principal changes the culture at this school considering I saw Mr. Cumback a total of 4 times in my 2 years.
