N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is highly capable and an excellent student, however his performance is deteriorating after he joined this school. No doubt the new principle is excellent, CANNOT say the same about teachers. 2 years wasted waiting to get a better teacher. Very disappointed. Might enroll my son in a private school this year.Other Review8y ago - Dallas El School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm a parent of a child who went to this Dallas Intermediate (Elementary) School. Our experience at the school was pretty poor. Where to begin? The teachers do not review homework and instead mark in their books only whether the assignment was "done" or not. This means that if the student did have trouble with their homework or did not fully understand the lesson, they are quickly left behind. For math, the teachers use online LinkIt! assessment tests for their Unit tests, which are every month. These tests are very difficult and each problem is a long and complicated word problem (no joke) requiring 5 or more steps to complete. It is for some reason assumed that each student either knows multiplication and division perfectly, or if not, they are allowed to use a calculator. This method does not facilitate learning. The math homework can sometimes take up to 3 hours to complete. There is little to no notice of when a quiz or test will be given. Social studies class is a mere 12 minutes per day. The reading level was 1st grade level. My child was WAY beyond that, so reading time was very boring. My child did only 1 science experiment during a 10 week period, and was very bored and frustrated about the situation. There are few (if any?) textbooks used. Nearly everything was online. There was not a standard curriculum used. It seemed to be what the teachers found online for a low price or free. There was no Houghton Mifflin or Harcourt or anything similar used. The images which were given as teaching aids were often blurry or too small to be legible. We raised many of these concerns with the teachers but no changes were made. The principal was unreachable for any meaningful discussion. Long story short is that we ended up pulling our child out and switching to homeschool. Now at least I can be satisfied that my child is actually learning. The only reason why I'm giving my review 2 stars is because my child liked one of his teachers and the principal was nice to us. However, I would definitely not recommend this school.Parent Review2y ago - Dallas Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMost teachers at Dallas HS work hard to be good educators. However, the administration consistently ignores teacher advice regarding important issues like curriculum changes and scheduling. Administrators who have little or no experience in subject areas make decisions regarding curriculum, frequently against the advice of veteran teachers who are experts in their fields. Administrators often make changes for reasons like "making scheduling easier" or because a small number of parents demand some change. This is degrading the quality of education at Dallas HS and creates a frustrating environment for the teachers.Teacher Review1y ago - Dallas Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is an incredible school. I had to move out of the area because of my job, it broke my heart because this was the best environment for my daughter. I like the fact that they embrace diversity, the school has guidelines for the children and the enforce it. They do not waiver, because of this students can focus on learning. Again AWESOME!!! school.Parent Review10y ago - Check out schools near 496 Memorial Hwy.

"Safe neighborhood, quiet streets, does require maintenance as most areas have yards, trees, driveways that you just maintain yourself. "

"Great safe family area and homes/yards aren’t on top of one another. Grew up here my entire life and now know my child’s safe to play outside too. A lot of deer that will sometimes get into the roads, but otherwise a beautiful spacious area that you don’t have to be concerned about overcrowded areas or being unsafe walking your dogs or letting your kids out to play. Neighbors are friendly and while spaced out pretty well still usually will know each other by name or wave as you go by etc. "
