3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average1st I must say communication between school and parents is almost non existent, everything is done at the last minute the punishment they give to students for small infractions is astonishing. I’ve spoken to other parents who feel the same way , they’re great teachers and some who should hang it up and pick a different carrier principal included . School should be about teaching and building every day skills for the youth success in life. Instead of tearing them down, I understand kids aren’t saints but there should lead by example not engaging in arguments with kids. If there and overwhelming amount of kids then hire more stuff. school get taxes from parent and city /state . We need better leadership. I’m glad I changed school district’s kids are striving . The officer’s at this school are great.Parent Review8mo ago - West Scranton High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is very old and in need of repair including no air conditioning- which causes a huge problem at the end of the year on the third floor when students are trying to concentrate on taking their final exams! The principal is lacking the skills needed to be an effective leader. Some of the teachers are very good and go the extra mile for ALL of their students, while the majority set a bad example, do not care to put in extra effort for the kids that need it, and the teachers and principal do not work well together. (The school does not even have a fax machine- if that says something.) I believe in the Scranton area high school students can choose whether to attend West Scranton High o Scranton High. I would choose Scranton High for sure.Parent Review10y ago - William Prescott #38

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school picks and chooses the students it cares to like. My son was in 4th grade here and it seemed as though the only 2 fourth grade teachers were teaming up on him. Picking and choosing students (someone else I knew had the same problem also) The one teacher rambled to me on the phone, she became loud when I seemed puzzled because my son is a good boy. I told her we could have a meeting to see what this was really about. Here she was overreacting and her only possible complaint to the principle was my son was too quiet. Yes too quiet. Grades were great. She threw accreditations in my face and became more irritated when there was no reasoning behind her behavior. I pulled my son from the school. Be careful if your child is in the 4th grade here and pay attention if they become upset.Other Review7y ago - Scranton High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible. I graduated from this school with all As and Bs. When I got to college I was immediately behind. An A at this school is equivalent to a C at better schools. Just look at the test averages,. As for leadership and character building, this school is apathetic to development of its students. Fortunately I had good parenting at home that helped with this.Other Review6y ago - Check out schools near 922 Clay Ave #2.
