Designed by an architect, this unique duplex is nestled in its own natural fortress. Live in 1 and rent the other. Vaulted ceilings with lots of windows and wide open floor plans make these rentals possibly the best places to live in Shadyside. The allure begins in the lower unit with greenhouse skylights overlooking the living room, and tall windows throughout the unit. Off the living room is a huge, sunny deck perfect for container gardening. Many of the inside walls feature stacked stones. The upstairs bedrooms offer a greenhouse balcony and loft style retreat with sweeping views. A huge bath with laundry rounds out this level. The 2nd unit offers a vaulted great room open to the granite kitchen. Sunshine sparkles through the trapezoid windows. There are 2 bedrooms, bath, and laundry on this floor. A spiral staircase leads to the loft bedroom and rooftop deck. Many romantic evenings have been savored enjoying nightcaps under the stars and gazing the sky for miles. And there’s even a 2 car garage!

"Shadyside is immaculately kept up. The public areas are clean and safe at night. I'm a small woman and feel safe walking alone at night. There are a lot of families here, and even though we are surrounded by colleges, the neighborhood has much more if a "family" feel than a "college" one. I love Shadyside!"

"If I could afford to live in Shadyside, I wouldn't choose any other neighborhood in the city. It's just the best in all ways: several huge parks nearby, minutes from universities, enough parking (though it's tough sometimes), tons of shopping, restaurants, and most of all the people who live there really care about it. This is Pgh's "chic" area. Very cool and urban but not uptight. If you're going to live in Pittsburgh, live in the east end - and from there, if you can afford it, live in Shadyside."
