3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is about a half step up from a juvenile detention center. There is a lot of fighting, theft and even sexual harrassment and misconduct between the children. Those things listed above are in addition to the fact that these children cannot read on grade level and many cannot read on any level, regardless what grade they are in. The principal is a large part of the problem. He is well aware of all of the issues within the school, yet most of the parents and the surrounding community are not aware out of fear of how it makes him look as a principal. The children don't face any consequences for their negative actions. Also, parents are rarely made aware of the violence and other negative actions of the children. This school was once a glowing educational facility to its community, but now it seems to exist to hold children with behavioral and developmentally needy children.Parent Review1mo ago - Overbrook High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a student of Overbrook High, it was an amazing experience. We were all there to learn and excel to earn good grades on out SAT's. Our graduating class had more than 600 hundred in 1961. We received more than 250 scolarships to such schools as Princeton, UofP , Temple, Colombia, Morgan state, .Haverford college, Cheney State and Penn state to name a few. Also some guys were admitted to WestPoint and the Naval academy Great sports, winning the Public league basketball championship and defeating the Catholic champions 2 out of 3 years. I can only share my experience. I have not idea about the present academic teaching system. BTW the guidance counselors worked overtime to secure us scholarships and admittance to the local colleges and universities in the Delaware valley.. ..Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 5223 Arlington St.

"Lived here for 10 years. Can't beat the location....from here to CC/downtown takes 10 minutes, but you're also close to the Main Line/Delco suburban shopping. Most houses have a garage, most blocks are quiet and well-kept. Prices have been steadily climbing up (my house is worth double what I paid for it 10 years ago) and lots of new apartments are being built...I think the secret is out that Wynnefield is a pretty good neighborhood in a great location."

"I drive daily, so my commutes are easy.. but when I used to take septa, my commutes were good 95% of the time when the G bus ran as scheduled. During the winter season, sometimes the G bus doesn’t come across the bridge and it makes for a difficult commute. "
