Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from August 26, 2022
If walls could talk this 4 story Society Hill home built in the Federal Style in 1798 would have 223 years of Philadelphia history to tell. This meticulously maintained historic home resides on the lush tree lined street of Gaskill. You will find perfectly preserved candlestick closets next to each of the 3 wood burning fireplaces, original 12 inch wide plank hardwood floors, authentic wooden doors, gorgeous wainscoting, and beautiful exposed brick walls. Owners have lovingly preserved its charm and carefully modernized the home to include central air and an updated kitchen and bathroom. On the first floor you are welcomed into the dining room with high ceilings, 12 inch original wainscoting and a working wood fireplace with an exposed brick wall. Through the dining room you will find the updated and bright kitchen, boasting beautiful soap stone counter tops with an apron sink, brick floors, and more exposed brick walls. The kitchen door leads to a patio and a gated alley with access to the street. The second floor living room has two beautiful sweeping windows overlooking the mature trees lining Gaskill Street, a brick hearth fireplace, and gorgeously preserved wide plank hardwood floors. Just off the living room is the updated and bright full bathroom and laundry. The 3rd floor primary suite is fit for a king: this suite easily accommodates a king sized bed with two windows looking though the tree tops, a functioning wood burning fireplace, and through the exquisite double doors you will feel like royalty as you enter the walk-in closet with custom built-ins and a window overlooking the patio below. The 4th floor loft can double as a guest room and a den. Here is your opportunity to leave your lasting mark on a 223 year old historic property and finish the walk out balcony, where you can enjoy a quiet morning cup of coffee, or an evening glass of wine, taking in the city skyline and listening to the bells softly tolling from St. Peter's Church. With this home you will be joining the revered 300 Block of Gaskill, where neighbors routinely host sidewalk happy hours and formal block parties under the canopy of the trees lining the street. Less than 2 blocks away is the historic Headhouse Square, where you will find all kinds of restaurants, coffee shops, salons, boutique stores, and more. Every weekend under the historic Headhouse shambles, originally built in 1745, is a farmers market. Why live anywhere else in Philadelphia then in a pristinely preserved, and lovingly modernized historic home in Society Hill, on a block exemplifying what it means to be the City of Brotherly Love.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCurrently I have a middle school student graduating from McCall this spring and I had two older sons graduate in 2018 and 2020. McCall Elementary school is a wonderful school and the teachers and staff are outstanding. I recommend this school to anyone that has a child in the Center City catchment. My students did well in this diverse community and participated in extra curricular activities run by the teachers and staff. The years at McCall instilled in my children the love of learning and the importance of doing their best work. We will miss this community!Parent Review1y ago - Franklin Benjamin High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love my school. It's extremely supportive and our principle is the best in Philadelphia. He has really turned our school around. Compared to our surrounding schools, I believe our school stands out. We have excellent programs that keeps student busy and off the streets. Our test scores are truly rising. Our teachers really care about our education. They put their all into them lesson plans. Most people would look at our school and see it for what it use to be not what it's become. In my opinion, my school is the best. It's extremely diverse in several ways. Come visit us :)!!!!Student Review13y ago - Check out schools near 306 Gaskill St.
