7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLaurel was a wonderful place for me when I attended. I felt prepared for college and the individuals who coached me and taught me helped give me a solid foundation in life. Laurel received the Blue Ribbon award which is given to less than 1% of high schools in America for its recent strong academic performance and the school offers dual enrollment opportunities so that students can get ahead in their college career while paying a discounted price for classes. The staff is great and is family oriented and the community is welcoming and peaceful. My family and I still live in the district and hope to remain here for as long as possible. Would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a good school for their kids.Other Review1y ago - Laurel El School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageteaching is fine but after school activities leave a lot to be desired, not enough notice, or failure to notify, of events.art fair is 1 example.only received notice months in advance, spent 2 after school sessions working on project, and ended up missing art fair because no notice was sent out that it was already here? result was a disappointed child with a clay bowl that was broke in transport from school when in fact it was to be picked up at art fair. not fair, why no notice?Parent Review12y ago - Laurel Middle School

"To much crime. Shootings ,stabbings almost every other day. Drugs are really bad also. Have had to put security system and cameras up everywhere around our home and we still do not feel safe. We will not be staying in the area much longer. To many kids getting involved in crime and that’s sad. "

"I live on the North Hill part of town. Lived here for 4 yrs now. Neighbors don't introduce themselves. I only know 1 neighbors name. City's roads suck, but it's a poor area with out much funding."

"just quiet...no one bothers you but neighbors are to themselves...Not unique by any means....we need more lighting of peoples porches..too dark at night..eerie feeling unfortunately."

"there is public transport. streets are not all lined or well marked with turn only lanes so it's confusing sometimes. Street signs are located higher up on the poles than I'm used to and it makes some a little hard to read. once you learn your way around town, it's not hard to commute by car. "
