1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughters behavior, social choices and decisions have declined DRASTICALLY since shes started Houck. I have countless times witnessed inappropriate dress code amungst students and administrative protocal accountability decline to almost non existent. Students being either bullied or the bullier, stealing things (expensive things) from either each other or parents/siblings at home. What are we as parents in this school/administration teaching our children is right from wrong when the wrong is not addressed. Encouraging NOT to bring/do things is not the same as enforcement of protocals. I feel the quality of our schools should be held to a higher standard and us as parents should fight the good fight for the sake of our kids and future they hold in their hands. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHave taught in FOUR high schools in this city, and honestly this is the most positive, supportive, versatile, resilient staff I have seen. The library is incredibly student friendly, and teachers are unusually available for their students. The biggest hurdle our students have is the idea some families promote that school/education/being smart is somehow not worth the effort. Thankfully, most families do NOT encourage that way of thinking. The French and Japanese programs are outstanding here, as are culinary, arts, woodworking, and sciences. "Lots of dogs out for walks daily. All day long it’s a safe neighborhood to walk even at night. There is a dog park nearby as well as lots of parks in general. West Salem has dog groomers. And pet store. West Salem has a couple vet clinics need by which is always nice when not wanting to cross the bridge for your pet to be seen. Most areas are great to walk around in year around. "

"My neighborhood is an active gang area, shootings occur randomly when I smoke ganja on my porch at night. It's not all the time it happens, but I'd avoid raising kids in this neighborhood. It's safe during the day, night fall comes... I'd recommend you stay in doors. Past that, it's quite quite here. "
