5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers, Aids and Principle are kind and helpful. The two regular office ladies who have been there FOREVER are aloof and discourteous not only to parents but have been observed multiple times talking down to students. It is obvious that other staff as well as the principle are aware of this but for some reason no adjustments have been made. It is a shame as the front office staff are responsible for first impressions and they utterly fail at having any sort of kind or cheery disposition whether it be face to face or on the phone.Parent Review6y ago - South Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSouth Middle School is just like any other school in that students who genuinely put in effort and try will receive a meaningful education, while those who don't will just skate right through. The school's administration does its best to instill positive values and provide care to students, however many students are apathetic, depressed, and disrespectful (one student even defecated in a bathroom sink). Any sense of school spirit is non-existent. Teachers at the school are hit-or-miss; most of them were proficient with one or two exceptions. The school itself is very old and cramped, long overdue for a re-build. The bathrooms are absolutely horrendous; I would consider holding it all day. There aren't a lot of clubs or activities to choose from, but our music programs are very strong, and we have a wide variety of sports to offer. Overall, while South isn't a perfect school, it was very influential in making me the person I am today.Other Review1y ago - Grants Pass High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school cares more about "school spirit" than the actual mental health and well-being of students. The rules are very arbitrary; I got dress-coded for wearing overalls once; yet girls are allowed to waltz through the halls wearing crop-tops and short shorts without consequences. Administrators blatantly lie and manipulate you to make you feel bad. It's as if they have to resort to bullying teenagers to boost their ego. Kids are selfish and lack empathy; they flock in groups that clog up the halls, so you have to shove your way through like a football player if you want to get to class on time. The only reason this school gets a 3/5 is because there are a handful of teachers that are genuinely engaging and supportive (Tyrell and Frye to name a few), and there are numerous elective options unique for a town of this size.Student Review1mo ago - Check out schools near 726 Espey Rd.

"I think dog owners would like the distance they would have to walk their dog but they wouldn't like the traffic because it is a highway and drivers don't always pay attention to who's walking on the side of the road. "

"Meth addicts are very respectful and will wait to steal your property while you're at work. Homeless lazy drunks are friendly for the most part, as long as you don't try to kick them off your lawn before noon. Police ask for more money every year while conditions stay the same while our property taxes double every few years to hire more sheriff's that don't respond it calls. Great Town! "

"I am next to the high school, which is great if you love hearing positive noise often or if you have school aged kids. The elementary school is just a few blocks away. It's fun to walk to the high school to see a football game or look out my kitchen window to see baseball games or track meets."
