Too much administrative politics, and too much emphasis on a state-wide Advanced Placement Program that doesn't serve kids needs in the end. Teachers are caring, but appropriateness for curriculum content completely misses the mark for what a high schooler needs to enter the workforce. To much hollow virtue signaling and woke-ism at the admin level. Too much Covid Politics, Too many participation trophies, Too much patting themselves on the back for mediocrity in education. Wasn't always this way. Need to get back to teaching the 3 Rs of Reading, Writing, Arithmetic. ...as a parent, I'm expecting, and demanding, serious changes once the new political regime changes at the state level in November.

I was very disappointed coming to JMS from WI. The teachers were not supportive if you have a child struggling. Bullying and destruction of school property is very bad. The school is overcrowded. There is no reason to have 7 classes except to reduce the huge class sizes. Students are squished like sardines in the halls. Nick Brown is not fit to be a principal, he only cares about the top 10% of students and student athletes. There are not enough electives for our students in special education and ELL students. When sped students fail a class due to lack of para support, it's too bad. They do not care about keeping students safe. I cannot believe JMS is so much different than the elementary, intermediate, and high school. JMS needs a full overhaul to meet the Jenks standard of excellent. I am disappointed that administration has turned a blind eye to what is going on at the middle school. I have heard that 40-50% of 7th graders are failing at least 1 class, this is unacceptable!

Our experience has varied from building to building. The teachers I have experienced have been very good. The class sizes are too large, 28+ per class is just too many. I know West is over capacity, they need to start redistricting and evening out the numbers. All in all, my kids have had a good experience. I wish there was more support for special needs students. I have seen several that struggle behaviorally and academically when I have volunteered in my children's classrooms over the years and it seems like the teachers have to drop everything to work with student, which leaves the rest of the class to fend for themselves. Maybe they need more teacher assistants to help those students. Besides that, the school has been good for my 4 kids.

All in all, we have enjoyed our experience at WI. Any problems we have encountered have been addressed. The 504 coordinator and ELL teachers, are SOOOO good. Very supportive and proactive when an issue arises. The teachers have been good with assisting when bullying issues or other issues have happened. The specials teachers are great too! i wish there was more adults in the cafeteria and I wish class sizes weren't so large, but happy overall.
