The teachers are wonderful educators and people in general. The new principal seems to be a good fit so far and is making the schools more inviting and welcoming. Residents generally go along with this charade out of concern for their own property values. But Wyoming is an insular small town. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy oldest came to Wyoming Middle School after attending private school through fourth grade. Honestly, I have to say that WMS does a better job than the private school did. I had concerns about moving to such a small, tight knit community, but the kids have welcomed the new kid right into their group of friends. I'm impressed with the character and kindness of my son's peer group. While the school definitely seeks high academic success, the real secret weapon of WMS is the community. The parents are involved and stress the importance of education at home. Simply, kids go to school with other kids who are expected to behave and perform well at school. The entire community demands and promotes success in the schools. The instruction is straight forward and the teachers are dedicated and kind. Yes, there is some overemphasis on the blasted tests for a month preceding the tests in the Spring, but that is the piece of evidence that everyone looks at when evaluating and comparing schools.
