7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers seem to really care. The band program is superb. The lunches are great. They have a wonderful family support staff who help with non related school needs. Unfortunately, if your family isn’t of a particular financial status, if you’re not friends of someone of status, if you’re not in a position of importance within the community then your child will most likely be overlooked for sports teams, tech classes, and other activities. There is little to no cultural diversity. Guidance counselors will return your call/email but don’t expect any resolution. My experience was horrible. I was given different explanations at each conversation. I finally tried to go over the counselors head but never received a phone call/email from any of them. Finally, out of desperation I went to the superintendent who did not respond but I did finally get a call from the principal who started the conversation by quoting the Civil Rights Act allowing them to do what I was trying to talk to someone about. Bottom line was… they did nothing but justify, and I am in no way convinced that this situation would be different if I were a parent of means and status. Unfortunately, for my children they will always be on the outside looking in hoping they were “that” child. Again, I have found the teachers to be great and truly try to help the students.
