"Lorain is a cheap place to live but not good if you have kids. We are leaving Lorain to get our kids in better schools. There is a lot of gang violence and young teens dying. Don’t want my kids to grow up around that. "

"This area is a wonderful location to live in. The crime rate is almost non-existent and the neighbors watch out for each other. The location is close to several amenities, such as schools, shopping, restaurants, gas stations, and banks and is desirably walkable. The composition of the neighborhood ranges from young adults to retirees, with a mix of families, singles, and couples. The homes in the area are well maintained and everyone is mindful of the value of their properties and that of their neighbors. This area is a great place to live."

"This neighborhood is an ecclectic mix of people, inclusive of families with small children, singles, couples, and retirees from many different ethnicities and backgrounds. Everyone is friendly and neighborly and are helpful to each other. The people who live there speak when they see each other, conduct conversations to get to know one another, and their children play with each other. Aside from the sporadically heavy traffic, it is like its own Mayberry, where everyone gets along with everyone else. It is, also, in a great location. There is a park two blocks east of the neighborhood with a swimming pool and playground amenities, there is a shopping center about a block and a half from the neighborhood with a full service grocery store and small, locally owned shops. There are restaurants, banks, and a couple of venues further south of the neighborhood but all are within walking distance, as well. The location is close to elementary, middle, and high schools that are close enough that you would feel fine with allowing your second grader to walk to school alone. The crime rate is almost non-existent. Everyone looks out for everyone else, especially each others' children, which strengthens the safety of the area. Everyone takes good care of their lawns and landscaping and are careful to maintain the property values of the neighborhood. I searched for a home for almost 4 years and am happy that I finally found my permanent home here. "

"I lived in Lorain 26-plus years & this area 20-plus years. I did NOT feel my safety was threatened---EVER!! I'm a female & often walked and bicycled all over Lorain without any problems. Crack houses? Not in this part of town. The grass is always greener on the other side---don't move away then say how bad your old neighborhood was. Your current neighbors might think your new neighborhood "stinks"."
