4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have only been here a few years and we are leaving. Finneytown seemed perfect for our family. Suburban school with diversity. What it lacks is having a handle on its students and there isn’t any true discipline. My child was assaulted 4 times in one month, did everything he was supposed to do in reporting and they couldn’t keep him safe. We went as high up as the Superintendent Mrs. Banks, and after assurances, nothing was done. Promise after promise of aid from multiple teachers, counselors, staff members and then the highest in the school and he still gets threats. My sons whole personality has changed. He fears going to school. He has broke down. He gave up basketball. His grades are slipping from a near 4.0 to a 3.0. We aren’t keeping him here another year. We’re done. My advice is to really look at your school leadership. Huge problems there. My kidsdeserve better than false promises, black eyes, bruised backs, threats of harm and teachers and staff who shrug, passing it off to the next people who never help either.Parent Review10mo ago - Brent Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBefore my son started school at Brent Elementary School, he was happy, care-free, confident, and everybody was a friend. After just 1 year at Brent Elementary, the bullying was so bad, he became depressed, full of anxiety, his confidence plummeted, and he gets very nervous around kids. I repeatedly brought it up to his teacher, the bus drivers, and the principal and it was NEVER handled. This school can't keep kids safe. RUN FAR AWAY FROM BRENT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Please explore other options. He's been in therapy for a year+ trying to heal the trauma. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Please prevent your children from going to this school.Parent Review3y ago - Check out schools near 8979 Cherry Blossom Ln.

"It’s quite small and centered between route 210, Waldorf, and National Harbor. Most living here are families with good jobs. Also it has become an area with steady growth in the surrounding commercial zoning locations due to the increase in residential property development. It’s a budding location with a lot of potential to offer its current and future residents."

"NoMa Bid has been creating a huge sense of community in Eckington and NoMa. For one they keep the area so clean and you always see their workers sweeping the sidewalks, changing trashing, maintenance at the dog park. And then there’s the events, most at the A.T. Park and the MBTrail. Movie in the park, farmers market, holiday events like pumpkin patch/contest, and of course the mural walls festival. The trail and park have beautiful murals everywhere and each year local artist renew most of them. (NoMa in Color). Also the dog parks is a big vibe in the area, Eckington Dog Park is the best in the city, but there are 4 in the area. Also, Bouldering Project is a cool bouldering and fitness gym. Theres tons of grocery, restaurants, bars and beer gardens, etc. it’s surround by Union Market, Brookland, Shaw, H Street… all connect my the MBT (bike/walk trail) and NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station (subway).
