6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy biggest regret is building a house in this school district based on all the wonderful things i heard about BC schools. Apparently the good things are based on only popular kids and their Moms. Which the moms are a whole other issue. Everyone is SO unfriendly and rude. No one cares about my child or even knows who we are. It’s a struggle to get my child into school every day without tears or stomach upset. Can’t make a single friend, the kids are all mean and uncaring. I loved elementary and it makes me sad to know my other kid will soon be in this middle school and now I can’t afford to move again. I highly recommend you look elsewhere at the middle level, if you aren’t part of an in-crowd. Also my taxes went completely unaffordable for a new school that mine are too old to even get to use. Also during covid times I can say after hearing about surrounding districts, BC is NOT keeping kids and staff safe.Parent Review3y ago - Bloom-Carroll High School

What Locals Say about Canal Winchester

"Lived in Canal Winchester for 15 years and love it. Live in Ashbrook Village neighborhood and it’s very quiet and safe. I would NEVER consider North of Rt. 33 though. The farther north you get, the worse it becomes!"

"Its a new neighbor here so not sure about it, hoping one day they will have something like that, that would be alot nicer for everyone."

"Close parks, great people, public Pool. Great schools, nice people, cleanly neighborhood. People are noisey though. "

"My neighborhood has empty nesters, young couples with babies, school age kids & retirees. It's a great place close to shopping, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Canal Winchester is a great place to live & raise a family. "

"Great small town but close enough to the big city. Lots to do, shops, restaurants, plenty of community pride. "

"Downtown Canal is very small but homey. Small local restaurants and parks along with safe neighborhoods. Everyone is pretty friendly for the most park. Near a couple grocery stores and not far from 33. "

"The commute is slow. Route 33 is over burdened with too many cars. There is construction in both directions which only makes things worse."

"Canal Winchester is a wonderful place to live and specifically Ashbrook Village. There are great schools close by and while we have the conveniences of larger areas, it still has a small town feel. We have cute boutiques, antique shops, and family owned restaurants as well as the large big box stores. I've always felt safe here and haven't had a single incident at home or in the community that would make me feel otherwise."

"This is a great neighborhood. Very close to downtown Canal Winchester with shops, restaurants, bars and more. The neighborhood is very quiet and established. Homes are all well cared for and maintained. Neighbors are incredibly friendly and welcoming. "

"My husband and I moved here to downsize ten years ago after our children finished high school. Bad mistake! Now that they're both out of college, we're waiting for the housing market to improve so that we can move. The schools are mediocre; there's nothing for adults without children to do; and there's little public transportation for the elderly. Canal Winchester prices are lower than in many other Columbus suburbs, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for"! I wouldn't recommend this city to anyone."
