My school is amazing. I get to learn I am smart, and I see my friends

It is definitely the best high school in Rochester.

1. Issues are swept under the rug. 2. After principal Palermo left, the school is out of control. The current principal & vice principal walks around all day with a walkie talkie like they are working. Or, they aren't in the office to meet with parents. 3. The red (bad), yellow (so-so), and green (great) daily behavior process is a waste of time. Just call or email the parents from time with concerns about behavior. It's common sense. 4. Teachers don't answer calls or voicemails. 5. When problems arise between students in the classroom, most teachers send the children to another class without notifying parents. 6. The school lunch is not up to par. The lunchroom staff have to step their game up; I know you have rodents and other issues, I saw the reports online.This school is very small and old. Clara Barton # 2 needs a makeover inside and out.Hire staff that wants to teach and teach well. Create an inviting environment for parents. In my opinion, the school needs to close down.

I’ve been in this school since kindergarten and it has never been like this kids are vaping their are so many fights drama and there’s a lot of bullying and it is not ok the teachers don’t do anything abt it and I’ve been bullied in this school and the and the principal doesn’t care about ur kids they don’t do anything to prevent bullying from happening and a lot of kids in this school are failing

This schools needs to be shut down and most should be fired including the ones who do nothing but just go with it because, its the easiest thing to so, and because, they are afraid they will loose their jobs if they stand up and out for what is right. Children are the most vulnerable, you are a monster for treating babies like this!! No one teaches expects a 4 year old to automatically know math and how to read also to count backwards using the Montessori methods but never taught it.Not at all!! This school will ruin children and their self-esteem and self-pride!! Causing them not to learn. They try to turn your child into a horrible statistic.Principle seems nice until you need hear. She only goes by what the Teacher says. Is ineffective and dishonest. Does not respect privacy will stop a parent to have a talk about a child so the Teacher who complained can see it in front of several people without scheduling a private meeting.They do nothing the staff are the bullies. They tell at the children like they work in a prison camp.

SOTA has a lot of spirit and heart. It's always fun to see how excited students get about games, protests, and other school events. Sadly, there is a huge problem with discipline and how teachers and administrators handle problems. I've seen many students get unfair consequences for minor problems or no consequence for huge issues. The counselors are kind and have helped me through a lot of dumb school drama and stress. It has drained my passion for art since I've started at this school but I think that's more of a personal issue than a school issue.

This school is scary. It is the epitome of an inner city hell-hole. When my son first started attending, there were uniforms and rules. 1 year later, that was all gone. He was leaving school...no one stopped him. The robocalls telling me he had missed class were a joke, since he was THERE every day and no one made him attend classes. He'd just roam the halls avoiding the security guards.

Great teachers and challenging curriculum. Honor's program for 7th and 8th graders is great. There is the potential to get high school credit for science - living environment, algebra, ELA, and foreign language. Beautiful facility.

My daughter attends and this is her second year here, she loves it and I do too. She will have the opportunity to have college credits from attending an accredited state college during her high school years. They are picky and wouldn't let her brother attend.

My 3 oldest daughters went to different schools in the city but dropped out as soon as they turned 16. My 4th daughter went to East and graduated! The staff at the school encouraged and supported her above and beyond my expectations.
