7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has been a student in the Red Hook schools since Kindergarten, and she's had an excellent experience all the way through. We could have sent her to a private school, but because she has thrived at Red Hook, we chose not to. The HS prepares students well, offering a first-rate, high-caliber curriculum that students are encouraged to take advantage of. The majority of her classmates are academically gifted and ambitious, and my daughter has benefitted from the challenging atmosphere. She'll be graduating with an International Baccalaureate diploma, and applying to top-tier colleges. Yes, an auditorium needs to be built, but in the meantime, the Red Hook band has been holding some performances at the world-class Fisher Center at Bard College. Not too shabby! "Definitely need a car in this area. Unless you are a college student. Then there is a shuttle that will get you where you need to go. There is a bus but it is doesn’t run often, and is not optimal. "

"Red Hook is a charming village surrounded by some of the most beautiful farmland in the Mid Hudson Valley. Crime is low, schools are excellent, and there are many cultural venues to explore. Close to major colleges like the Culinary Institute of America, Vassar, Marist & Bard and only about 2 hours from New York City, it's truly the best of both worlds!"

"We raised our kids here in the Village....they could walk to Middle and High School; schools are EXCELLENT! Rec Park just on the edge of Village (bike-able) has pool, tennis, basketball and baseball, playground equipment for little ones. Flatiron and Mercato are Zagat-rated restaurants serving fantastic food right in the Village; now we have wine bar and juice bar plus J&J's for lunch, right on the corner of 9 and 199, and a coffee house, Taste Budds, for the high school and college set, right on West Market Street....Village has all kinds of festivals and events. We have our own Library with lots of events and services for children; school kids help grow food on school grounds for the cafeteria....excellent dentists and chiropractors right here in the Village....my really excellent dentist's office is directly across from the driveway to the high school...."
