Light, private outdoor space, in-unit washer & dryer, central air, amazing location -- this listing has it all. Welcome home to this rare, impeccably-combined duplex, four bedroom, two bath where you will inhabit the top two floors of a beautiful Upper West Side brownstone. The current owners painstakingly combined two units while adding a glass floor and steel beams (inspired by the 5th Avenue Apple Store) to bring sunlight from the top floor skylight to the newly-created, expansive chef's kitchen on the lower floor. The private oasis features high ceilings, two working, wood-burning fireplaces with original mantels, beautiful woodwork, oak hardwood floors, rotund balcony and a generous private terrace.
The chef's kitchen will be a dream to cook in as it has Dacor gas cooktop and range/convection oven, high-velocity vented-out exhaust, Bosch dishwasher, pear wood custom cabinets, Brazilian Ubatuba granite countertops, built-in water filter and SubZero refrigerator.
The interior stairs with spacious built-in storage lead to two bedroom wings with bathrooms and a Miele washer and dryer in-between. The primary bathroom features radiant floors, skylight lighting, custom bamboo storage and a custom shower with Axor fixtures. The second bathroom has a deep-soaking tub and granite countertop.
The two larger bedrooms each have room for a king-sized bed with room leftover - one features a walk-in closet. This home offers plenty of storage with another hall walk-in closet and an "attic" storage space above the vented bathrooms. There's also communal storage in the basement where there are washers and gas dryers for the building.
The building is lovingly and expertly maintained having just had its facade repaired last year and recently installed building-wide central air and heating through ultra efficient Mitsubishi split systems. The chimneys were re-lined and chimney fans installed to improve the draft of the wood-burning fireplaces. The building's windows were replaced with top of the line, double-pane Pella windows while saving the original pocket shutters. The building now features video intercoms that can ring your phone. Maintenance is low and the building is in great condition. Minimal board package application process and this building does not have a flip tax. Dogs and cats are permitted.
The 20 foot wide, historic Romanesque Revival townhouse, built in 1892, was the home of famous essayist John Jay Chapman and was one of the first townhouses on the Upper West Side to receive coop status. The location is superb - one building from Riverside Park (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted) on beautiful, tree-lined West 82nd Street between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue. Prepare for the best of Upper West Side living because this home is also convenient to Zabar's, Citarella, Fairway, The Children's Museum of Manhattan, The Beacon Theatre, AMC Movie Theater, Barnes and Noble, The Strand at Columbus Ave, Maison Pickle, French Roast, Elea, Barney Greengrass, Senn Thai, Levain Bakery, Orwasher's, Daily Provisions, Chipotle, Peacefood Uptown and Blue Bottle. Public transportation is a dream with Citi Bike Station on the corner, the M5 bus on the corner, and the M104 bus, the Crosstown M79 bus, and the 1 train within a few blocks.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a wonderful school with a great community - especially at the K level. Our son is in his second year at PS009 and loves the school. In fact the school is the only reason we are still living in NY. My son has made amazing friends and has learned so much not just about academics but also about social responsibility and the importance of kindness. Both his K and 1 teachers have been extraordinary and demonstrate that they sincerely care about the children. Unfortunately Mayor Adams has determined education is not a priority in NYC so our class sizes have become rather large (28 in my son's 1st grade class), but fortunately the teachers are qualified to handle these larger class sizes and the school provide small group instruction at least twice a week for every child.Parent Review1y ago - Ms 243 Center School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended Center School from 2013-2017, and might I say that it thoroughly shaped me into a headstrong and socially intelligent individual. I know for a fact that every other person in my graduating class would say the same. The experience at this school expands far beyond academia, and you are given a beautiful, fulfilling experience about what it really means to be a good person. Being in such a tightly knit community guarantees that every single student will make very memorable bonds with all sorts of people. While at the same time, we get some of the highest test scores in the state. Although, you only fully realize what incredible place it is once you've left because then, you fully realize how much it has changed you. Thinking back to my first day here, I was extremely introverted, and I didn't know how to raise my head up and look people in the eyes. Now I am on my way to college to major in Public Relations. The teachers at Center are (for the most part) true gems. They are incredibly authentic people who go above and beyond to see kids become wonderful students, and more importantly, quality people. Some of the best teachers I had have now since retired, but I am sure that anyone who goes to Center will find themselves an experience just as meaningful and enriching. Parents, at times you may be left wondering what on earth they are having your kids doing, but believe me, it's for a very good reason.Other Review3y ago - The Global Learning Collaborative

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGlc is a good school! The teachers care about their student! My doughter is in 11th grade and is fond of her teachers. Going thru sat prep , regents is not easy for a 11th grader, but the teachers have been there with her supporting and guiding . It has a long way to go to become a great school but i am sure it will get there.Parent Review8y ago - Check out schools near 325 W 82nd St.
