Description
This small Midtown neighborhood, Turtle Bay, is an exclusive one with the Chrysler Building and United Nations Headquarters within its boundaries. Extell Development converted the former rental building, known as L’Ecole, into condos in 2007. Well known in Manhattan for their upscale developments such as The Rushmore, Lucida and others, 212 East 47th Street mirrors their proclivity toward fine finishings, quality craftsmanship and plentiful amenities.
The 35-story building has 261 one, two and three-bedroom luxury apartment homes. Named for the distinction of having the most prized New York area code, “212,” its location, beautiful interiors and great amenities certainly measure up to its name.
One of the best amenities of this luxury building is its very large and gorgeously landscaped rooftop terrace. It’s the perfect “escape” for relaxing, rejuvenating and/or enjoying after-hours get-togethers with breathtaking, panoramic cityscape views — there’s 3,000 square feet to view some of Manhattan’s most recognizable icons; the Chrysler Building, Bank of America Tower and the East River.
Several units have balconies (and terraces as large as 119 square feet), some offering triple river views and his/her custom-built closets in the master bedrooms. There are generous-sized common areas (but very reasonable common charges) such as resident lounge, fitness center, rooftop garden and onsite parking.
Steps away from Grand Central Station, a few blocks away from the East River and walking distance to legendary Midtown shops and dining, make 212 East 47th Street the “ultimate Manhattan address.”

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter graduated from Art & Design high school in 2022 and had a great experience. It was a safe environment, the students were supportive of each other and I didn't see any issues with bullying, the teachers were nurturing and supportive. The kids loved art, but there were also good academic classes and AP classes but a large focus on visual arts classes. Staff and principal does a good job of helping students prepare for college. The new principal is great !Parent Review6mo ago - Ps 116 Mary Lindley Murray

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a guardian of a current student at this school, this student is being bullied and none of the teachers are doing anything about it. It was already pretty bad that the teachers aren't doing anything about the bullying, but it is worse that the teachers did not let this student tell their family members about it because they say that it will make it a bigger deal. It is not alright for a teacher to tell their student to not call their parent because of it will ruin their school reputation. The teachers dealing with this problem says that they will be able to fix the problem but they didn't do anything. Now this student is afraid to go to school because the bullies threathens to jump this student and call their friends over to also bully and join in. Also, the bullies didn't get in trouble because the teacher said that he did not see it happen. This isn't the first time this student was bullied but the first time, there was at least one teacher that tried to solve the problem but she left so now this student is having trouble solving this new problem. As for learning, teaching, and other parts of reviewing a school, if students don't feel safe then they obviously would not feel motivated or excited about learning and other activities.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 212 E 47th St #24A.

"Across the street from Tudor City Park and UN. Near Grand Central Station, Bryant Park and Times Square. Near NYU and Bellevue hospitals. Near AMC Lowes movie theatre. Quietest place in Manhattan. Safe too with lots of police patrols. Dog friendly. Be in the heart of everything and in walking distance to restaurants and entertainment. Supermarkets here aren't that great though and they are expensive. "
