Description

Remarkably graceful, this exceptional high floor duplex is a superb example of Rosario Candela's beautiful and masterful work. Exceedingly large, the glorious and sunlit residence is comprised of 14 impeccably proportioned and scaled rooms, and has the good fortune to be situated in one of Carnegie Hill's most prestigious and sought-after white-glove cooperative buildings. Ideal for both grand living and extraordinary entertaining, the apartment is distinguished by endless rooms with picture perfect views from an extraordinary 18 oversized windows facing directly onto Central Park.
Upon entry, this celebrated apartment opens to a private elevator landing, and beyond there is an impressive marble-floored Gallery. Graced by the original marble staircase with wrought iron balustrade, the Gallery in turn anchors each of the principal entertaining rooms. Majestically perched over Central Park, the 30-foot Living Room includes two sets of double doors and a wood burning fireplace. It is flanked by a large and handsome oak paneled Library and an elegant formal Dining Room, each with a marble-mantled wood burning fireplace and divine tree-top outlooks. A Powder Room with Ante Room is conveniently and graciously located off of the Gallery.
The back of house includes an enormous windowed Kitchen, a Pantry and a Breakfast Room, as well as a Laundry Room, Staff Room and Bath, and a back stairway. There is also an unexpected east facing elongated terrace that could be accessed from an expanded breakfast area, and would be lovely for a step out to enjoy a bright morning or the crisp evening air.
The upstairs private quarters include a marvelous Master Suite with wood burning fireplace and a Park facing Dressing Room and Bath. There are three more very large Bedrooms, two of which front onto the Park, plus abundant closets, including a proper walk-in linen closet and a big cedar closet. Several additional Staff Rooms and Baths complete the floor.
Incorporating many of the stunning design elements that distinguish the great buildings of the early Twentieth Century in New York City, this apartment is most certainly an architectural tour de force. Having been owned by the same family for over fifty years, the opportunity to purchase this Fifth Avenue Candela trophy property is rare.

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy special needs kid attended PS 6 from kindergarten through fifth grade. His experience was outstanding on the whole. The vast majority of teachers and administrators were dedicated to helping my son thrive. Their solutions to issues were creative and flexible. Parent involvement was high, especially in lower grades. I feel they did an excellent job preparing my son for middle school, which he started this year.Parent Review4mo ago - Jhs 167 Robert F Wagner

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePersonally, I would not recommend this school. As a student I can defidently say that this schools safety is horrible. There's fights everyday inside and outside school. I also almost got into a fight in the middle of the yard and the staff were nowhere to be seen. Another topic I'd like to talk about is the education. Wagner's education is honestly not that good. As a student with an average grade of 90's I can assume how teachers just don't care about their jobs and students education and how little students learn about certain topics.Student Review5mo ago - Life Sciences Secondary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLs3 is although a small high school but it comes with great opportunities. The school offers AP classes on top of the traditional course subjects such as AP Bio and AP Statistics. The school has great arts programs such as choir, art and band all these classes offers advanced classes where students showcase their talent combined with classroom techniques at private shows and competitions. It also has many internship programs and career affiliations like natural museum of American history and Mount Sinai they also offer college credit classes at hunter college. Personally I’ve participated in some programs such as the mount sieni programs and summer internships at research labs and I’m not sure many schools would offer such the teachers are also one of the many enjoyable aspects the school offers. The teachers are not only concerned with the numbers the student present but they get to know each student as an individual and carter to them on the level suited for the student they also serve as adults any student can go and talk to bring it personal or academic.Student Review4y ago - Check out schools near 1040 5th Ave #9/10C.
