3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has a fairly unfortunate background knowledge of past events that occurred in the school, that has caused bad ratings. Many students who go to Bowne High school enjoy there time there. There are many opportunities to succeed in this school. They offer online courses, night school, free tutoring on school lunch periods, after school and on the weekends to help students succeed in their classes, as well as passing and getting the necessary requirements for their regents exam. They have over 200 clubs offered. Teachers and Staff and students in Bowne are free to create their own clubs, and after school activities. There are many opportunities for Volunteer services. They are the only school in Queens that offer an Agriculture program. As well as the accommodating Academy of Arts, JROTC, STEM and zone programs for students. Students have a wide range of AP, Honors, and College Now classes available. They have many interactive programs as well. I am a fellow student in John Bowne High School. Most of, the principal, Kwait, stands to his roots on his opinion of Success. All students are required to aim for the Advance Regents Diploma to get ready for college.Student Review9y ago - Ps 165 Edith K Bergtraum

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal’s policies are self serving. Even in harsh winter days forces the children out into cold to toughen them. First Fridays every month brings all parents in a show off public relations campaign. Result of just these 2 unsafe policies- kids get flue, raising extremely high absents. Principal and assistant principals don’t even reply to emails. Bullying is a real problem here as well. Lack of sane policies. Lack of teachers with real teaching experience. Discrimination behind doors. Every issue is quickly tried to hush up. My son had to spend 2 yrs of hell in this school. My heart goes out to who has no better choice given it’s a zoned school. But is you have choice don’t put this on your top 12 schools in application. Hope you avoid this school.Parent Review4mo ago - Check out schools near 67-35 150th Street UNIT 351B.
