Kids often get into fights. Lots of vaping (Like most schools). Security is harder on Hispanic kids than anyone else. Are letting go of many great teachers, and cutting many classes (all psychology classes, AP chem, AP Physics, Anthropology, etc.) because of budget cuts.

I am a student at this school, and unfortunately the nursing department has significant issues that need improvement. The nurses have been unprofessional in their interactions with my mother and I. They have hung up on my mother and dismissed my medical concerns without adequate evaluation. Additionally, they have kicked me out without justification. The school's policies, such as charging for replacement ID cards and requiring doctor's notes for absences, are problematic and negatively impact students. Many of the teachers are also an ongoing problem, as they have been rude and insensitive toward disabilities. One teacher even yelled at me to “shut up” even though I can’t control how loud I am and another teacher has allegedly done disturbing things that indicate questionable character and judgement. While I understand budgets are tight, addressing these systemic problems with staff training and improved policies would go a long way to improving the overall school culture and student experience. With some effort, this school could become an excellent place to learn and thrive.

The teachers are very good with the students and plan fun field trips and class activities. The PTA can sometimes get a little crazy with what they do sometimes, but I appreciate their enthusiasm.

Honestly, I'm disappointed. Knowing how high the common core state standards are, I feel like my child wasn't taught to his highest potential. I feel like the teaching was watered down and the expectations for my child were low. They are not challenging the high achievers.
