Description
This property is not currently for sale or for rent on Trulia. The description and property data below may have been provided by a third party, the homeowner or public records.
Enjoy the best of Brooklyn living right outside your front door. Don't miss out on this classic four story Carroll Gardens brownstone that has been lovingly cared for since the early 1970's by the current and only third owner. Almost all of the 1898 interior construction remains intact. Currently designed as an owner's triplex over a competitive garden rental, there are few properties in this price range that allow one to comfortably move right in and collect rent or use as a single family home.
Appreciate the historical charm throughout the parlor floor with its traditional pier mirror, floor-to-ceiling windows, pocket doors and two gorgeous marble mantels. The two floors above the parlor have four very spacious and bright bedrooms plus additional side rooms for an office or potential walk-in-closet. Each floor has a full windowed bathroom;the top floor also features a washer and dryer. The garden apartment has a claw foot bathtub, marble mantle, sizable bedroom and access to your private garden oasis.
A classic brick archway spanning the length of the full basement and building provides added support and is surrounded by the original stone foundation. The rear basement hatch has a light-well, which can be added in front as well. An easy transition to becoming a finished basement, media/work or child's play area.
Located one block to Smith Street, a short distance to the happening Gowanus area or just up Union Street to Prospect Park. Close to so many great restaurants, cafes, family-owned shops and local boutiques. Enjoy the weekend farmer's market at PS 58 or head over to Brooklyn Bridge Park.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI could not think of a better place for my kid than PS 32. There is so much individualized attention provided that I truly feel like we're in a private school without paying tuition! The teachers are phenomenal. My kid is in a Kindergarten class this year (NOT G&T), and I'm consistently blown away by how the teachers get him excited for reading & writing (he and his classmates are far ahead of others in "more desirable" neighborhood schools; he is fluently reading chapter books) and math. I wish I learned math the way he is learning it at 32 (on a recent snow day zoom, he created a two-step formula to make the number 9....). He loves dance, music, art, gardening, science, gym and library that he gets as part of his school day and has connected with all of these specialty teachers. He Kindergarten is also learning chess. I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this school.Parent Review2w ago - Cobble Hill School of American Studies

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended this school for 9th grade and it was absolutely horrible .. Students interrupt when teachers are teaching , the lessons are never completed . There’s always a fight . teachers are disrespectful . Don’t send your child here !!Other Review7mo ago - School For International Studies

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs an upcoming 8th grader at this school I’d say for as many good teachers, there are twice as many bad teachers, this school prides itself on diversity while only having one Asian teacher in the whole middle school. The new principal and vice principal are constantly making unnecessary changes without feedback from students that make the school feel more like strict private school rather than a fun learning environment. I’ve made so many friends at this school but there have been a lot of bad moments as well. During school shooter lockdowns which happen frequently the school barely communicates with parents and instead of fixing problems that actually matter they decide to implement things like teachers escorting students to lunch and having to “earn” the right to eat lunch outside of the school, to be honest and frank this school would’ve been a great decision a couple years ago but now with the overwhelming amount of rules it isn’t worth it. You light think I’m just a petty student but these things are real issues that are happening right now ESPECIALLY with the mis-communication with parents during school emergencies!!Student Review8mo ago - Check out schools near 405 Union St.

"Not unique anymore; overcrowded. Smoke shops with stink marijuana and suspicious people walking around. Neighborhood destroyed by real estate developers and month to month furnished rentals. "

"It’s a short ride into Manhattan without all the hassle of living there. The neighborhood has grown quite a bit in the past 15yrs but retained most of the Carroll Gardens charm."
