5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWithout any knowledge about American schools, we moved from Denmark to USA with our 3 kids last year. We visited PS 17 with our kids. they liked this school from the first time. We felt very welcome and professional service from the school staff. Our kids were not able to speak English. Now year after, they can write and speak fluently. The other subjects also reached the lever which they need to have. We are so proud them but we know all of these are school and teachers efforts. Its not easy move from country , home and friends, special in they are ages, but they school take care them with love which we as parents can fell that every single day. There is none day, I hear from kids, they don't want go to school. opposite they are always go to school with happy and trust. They fells so happy and safe with they teachers and proud they having the best teacher ... Really, we fell so lucky to have our kids in PS 17. The environment from school has created all the knowledge and love to our kids which are they most important in they are small world. We are so appreciate this school, they have made different.Parent Review5y ago - Jhs 50 John D Wells

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe level of excellence at JhS 50 John D Wells exceeds all other schools NYC. The quality of the education the kids receive here is outstanding! Starting with their amazing Principal Mr. Honoroff to the teachers and staff this place deserves the best recognition. They really care about the students and are always available to help or troubleshoot in any situation however they can. They have an undefeated debate team and numerous interesting programs sports etc. The Assistant Principal Mr. Warren is probably the best Assistant Principal you will find in New York. He is very dedicated, caring and really goes the extra mile for the students. Also this is a very safe school the dean Mr. Lopez keeps law and order in the school. The teachers the guidance counselor everyone involved in this great school is very easy to reach and communicate with. The way things are run here are a recipe for success and thats exactly what happened to my daughter here. My daughter had a beautiful experience at this school & I couldn't have asked for more.Parent Review1y ago - Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design

"we live by morgan L train station. It is mostly safe and quiet but I’ve heard of a few incidents. People from the neighborhood throw garbage outside the trash bins which I find disrespectful but as we all know some people live in an alternative world. There are nice places to eat and summers are really nice. No parks or any green around as this was an industrial neighborhood but you get used to it."
- Trulia User

"Accessibility to the city by public transport makes this a central neighborhood. It also makes it a bedroom community. There aren’t no great institutions in this neighborhood: no museums, libraries, nor large performance stages "
