5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBSGS has a nice student body of very kind students and hard working teachers. The administration is the weakest link. Many teachers leave every year because the principals at BSGS abuse their power and bully their staff. Some students can sense the awkward relationships that the teachers have with the administration. Even with the dropping enrollment of around 240 students (6-12), the principals don't know even half the students by name. The culture of the school is of punishment and rewards not self-monitoring and enchanted learning which it should be lest we develop a herd of one-track thinking sheep. Additionally, the entering freshman class in 2015 never left the building on a single whole class field trip. (Some freshmen were hand picked for a college field trip that took place in April.) Overall, this school is in terrible need of improvement. Most students fail their regents exams multiple times. Graduation rates are extremely low. Mid-year schedule changes disrupt the learning process and teachers get burned out very quickly. And the solution by the admin to deal with these gaps is to simply introduce some branding techniques for digital art and the AVID program to lure new students. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.Teacher Review8y ago - Ps 29 John M Harrigan

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs an upcoming 8th grader at this school I’d say for as many good teachers, there are twice as many bad teachers, this school prides itself on diversity while only having one Asian teacher in the whole middle school. The new principal and vice principal are constantly making unnecessary changes without feedback from students that make the school feel more like strict private school rather than a fun learning environment. I’ve made so many friends at this school but there have been a lot of bad moments as well. During school shooter lockdowns which happen frequently the school barely communicates with parents and instead of fixing problems that actually matter they decide to implement things like teachers escorting students to lunch and having to “earn” the right to eat lunch outside of the school, to be honest and frank this school would’ve been a great decision a couple years ago but now with the overwhelming amount of rules it isn’t worth it. You light think I’m just a petty student but these things are real issues that are happening right now ESPECIALLY with the mis-communication with parents during school emergencies!!Student Review7mo ago - Check out schools near 101 Warren St #A-3F.

"It’s not too trendy but has all the amenities you’d want in a Brooklyn neighborhood like shops and restaurants and dry cleaners. Feels very “neighborhoods” and I know several of my neighbors. We deliver each other’s packages and watch each other’s cats when we go on vacation. Things like that. Also feels pretty safe. "

"Have lived here since 1993. Area has gone up in price while going down in quality of life. It's no longer an organic, living community but rather is overridden with yellow taxis, transients, restaurants, Starbucks, traffic, self-important narcissists and other undesirables. Sad."

"I have lived in Cobble Hill for 13 years and cannot imagine leaving the 'hoo. better stores, restaurants and bars open every week. Just a great place to live, and oh, so close to Manhattan."
