  • Trulia User
"Like: many dogs and dog owners, most are very sweet and will chat with you. Shops and downtown areas are becoming more dog friendly! Dislike: unfortunately, there are typically a handful of owners that unleash their dogs in public spaces. Depending on the area, a lot of owners do not pick up after their dog. "

"The elementary schools are great, but you should move before they hit middle school. Lots of bad behaviors and not enough support. "

"A lot of people rely on taxis for transportation, and that's really the only public transportation there is within the city. You can take a Greyhound to other cities but that is about it."

"Culture in Amsterdam has taken a turn as it has been abandoned due to industry changes. Retired people who have no choice but to end their days there, abandoned homes and an influx of blaring music and community isolating. Downtown was trashed years ago. Mayor seems disinterested in making rules to insist on a quality of life. Homes are in dire need of repair. They are old and tell of a time when there were glory days in Amsterdam, but those days appear to be gone. "

"This is a good part of the neighbourhood. 5mins to grocery stores, shopping, (target, kohls) restaurants , gas stations and a large baseball field. However it is away from the main road so low traffic. Good neighborhood for walking the dog or kids, and getting some biking or uphill excursions. "
