6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible experience with this school. If you child has any type of special needs or struggles in school this is not the school for you! Steer clear! I have tried to work with this school for years and they continue to disappoint. I have a child who has special needs and the school failed to inform me what options we had even though I asked the main office and the counselors office several times! Finally, after my own research, I found what we needed to do but the school really dropped the ball in helping us. My child also has health issues that affect decision making and other areas of everyday life and was suspended over something that was not done in school and also had nothing to do with the school. My child had never even so much as been in trouble in school before. Also, just as another reviewer stated a teacher told one of my children that they would only amount to being a drug dealer when they grow up! When this brought up to the school they said they would speak to this teacher and no other reprimands although this teacher has a history of speaking to the kids in this manner. However, they did want to give detention to my child for being disrespectful and talking in her class, well I do not see how you expect the children to respect a teacher to behaves in a manner. A counselor stated that it was probably the teachers way of trying to inspire the kid the way a coach would when yelling at the team! Are you kidding me?Parent Review6y ago - Corrales Elementary School

"4th of July Parade with all the tractors is great. There are many delicious local restaurants. It’s its own bedroom community but within 30 minutes from everything in Albuquerque. "

"Commute is a downside. Anyone who lives on the west side and has to cross the river for work knows this. "

"Plenty of walking space, just beware of coyotes on a possible early morning prowl, although they aren’t aggressive you never know, especially if you’re a small dog owner. "

"Watch out for falling Cottonwood limbs, as it happens most frequently and could be dangerous for children or animals. Don’t tie a swing or tire to the old cottonwoods or build a tree house in one as they are very unsteady and limbs breaks instantaneously."

"That Corrales overalls laid back community is getting very PC by new people moving into an agricultural town and wanting to treat it like a neighborhood."

"Corrales has a real sense of community! Very animal friendly and wonderful neighbors that look out for each other. 3--4 outstanding restaurants but not a place for night life. Cute boutique-type shopping opportunities; lots of art galleries. We love it here!"

"The Village of Corrales is rural in character, houses required to have an acre to build a house. Most houses are southwest in character. Many people own horses, pygmy goats, llamas, chickens, etc., even hear peacocks and they are allowed too. Lots of soft trails that wind throughout the village and can go along the Rio Grande on the Bosque by horse, bicycle, or by foot the trail goes through Albuquerque too. Yet it is so peaceful. No sirens and car noise. Car fumes from large cities not a problem here. It is a unique area that has lots of southwestern style houses and restaurants."

"we moved to corrales earlier this year after exploring different areas of NM. Corrales has a bit of everything, 100 plus yr-old adobes, million dollar estates, comfortable northern NM type arch most all with lots of property. lots of interesting folks- artists, musicians, writers -i work in the arts so know the cast of characters! the "greenbelt" means you are on water- you have one or 2 wells- so very different than most areas of NM. lots of trees and old orchards. i prefer this area to santa fe -you have everything a charming village offers and 10 minutes from costco, sprouts, etc. 12 miles from downtown albuq-and on or near the rio grande."
