7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has done my daughter absolutely no justice. She went to school here kindergarten through second grade. We are now switching schools to another town due to moving. Just seeing the summer school packets I know they were doing absolutely nothing of benefit at this school. Since COVID has hot they just stick your child at a desk with a computer in front of their face & now my daughter will be starting third grade majorly behind. The principal is power hungry & very controlling. During her second grade year there were a few instances where my daughter came home without eating her lunch because she was ignored when asked for help opening her thermos. When I brought this to the principal’s attention she said that it was my daughters own fault because she should have been more persistent in asking for help. I feel that of a child asks once for help they should be helped. It seems to me that these teachers are making a salary for doing absolutely nothing. I would not recommend this school to anyone honestly.Parent Review2y ago

"West Milford is a beautiful town, but is far away from everything. I’ve lived here my entire life and if you want to get anything to eat or drink after midnight, your only option is Exxon if you don’t want to drive more than 10 minutes."

"Good bus transportation to New York and Willowbrook area. Trains are a 30 minute drive. Driving is doable within the region. The ride home into West Milford and Hewitt is always a natural delight."

"Most people drive to work, but a NJ Transit Park N Ride services Hewitt and West Milford into NYC. Trains from Ramsey and Willowbrook (Wayne NJ) are also popular."

"Our community has manny events Such as fishing tournaments, first dance, October fest and so on through the year plus the get togethers of just the neighbors. Awosting counts 200 homes. Part of the community is a club house and boat house on the lake. Both are used for community parties. We also have a kids playground and tennis courts and a community beach. There are sail boat regattas every Sunday. Even though we are only 40 miles from Manhattan live is peaceful in Awosting."

"I'm a city woman and visiting Greenwood lake was definitely extremely different in the the sense of it's environment. People in the area were reserved and not a soul in sight. The streets were extremely dark, I felt trapped after sun down if I had no car because there are limited street lights, not enough to see well. Everything is extremely quiet even during the daylight. I'm glad it was just a visit. I did meet 2 nice residents out of the area to where I stayed. My visit was for about 1-2 weeks."

"The yards tend to be large enough for play, and neighbors are not hard by each other. People will walk their dogs on lease and the roads tend to be small and rural."

"My commute is easy, 19 miles to route 17 in Bergen county. Trains and buses far enough away that you don’t hear the noise. Walking distance to buses. Perfect area, beautiful, peaceful, friendly, affordable and convenient Lake Community "

"I have lived in west milford for 17 years. It is a great community for raisin kids. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of nyc but close enough to enjoy when you want to. Also very close to wine country. Always a plus! "

"I love my Lake community, my neighbors too which include beautiful wildlife like bald eagles, hawks, and yes bears. Bears are beautiful and harmless if you are a good neighbor. They are an awesome sight to see. If you choose to live here, be a nature lover. There is a lovely quiet to the night and the stars and sparkling water are amazing and very peaceful "

"country living at it finest still close to main city work. We moved here 8 years ago from NYC and it was the best decision we have ever made. if your not into the outdoors or powersports this is not the place for you. "
