1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageYa know despite the fact that the school is overall not a great place, I've been having a great experience! You'll be good as long as you don't heavily involve yourself with a bunch of various persons and their business. Be careful not to mess with people, but if that does end up happening just tell a staff member about it, it doesn't seem like people try to harass the people their friends are harassing (at least for me). A bunch of my teachers are really supportive, I like all of them except for my biology teacher, and a lot of the teachers seem to be going from decent to pretty good at what they are teaching, and if you can look in the right place, you can make great relationships with fellow students! Even the ones who are rough around the edges are pretty good people! Overall, I'm having fun here! I could've chosen to stay at the high rated school I was at, but I decided to transfer here and I'm not regretting it!Student Review2y ago - Central High School

Excellence is celebrated regardless of where you come from. Teachers interact with us like their own children. I am a 9th grader and can say I absolutely enjoy school. 1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI just was awarded section 8. I was so excited. I wanted to move out of Newark. Then I received a letter from Malcolm Shabazz stating that my son was one of 6 students in Newark district schools that was awarded a scholarship to Lincoln Tech. All expenses paid. Malcolm Shabazz also informed us that not only will he be graduating next year with honors from there but also Lincoln Tech. They informed us upon graduating in would receive an additional scholarship for 85,000, to further his education. My son was and is so excited. So as for me moving out of Newark, not happening now. The school itself is in poor physical condition. The staff are not supported to be productive or effective. "Seymour Ave b/t. Clinton and Avon isn't good. There are a lot of people who hang out all hours of the night--talking LOUDLY. Blasting music at times. And, yes, sometimes fighting. Also I feel that there's no privacy here. People watch & listen. And not everyone works. I guess it depends on who you are. & what you're used to."

"Dog owners are welcome here and I have never seen any incident were a dog was left straying without the owner by its side. I have never seen were a dog attacked anybody on the street either."

"You can buy a large, beautiful house dirt cheap. I moved here in Feb of 2017. When I ride the bus I see people greet each other like long lost friends, It's a small thing but a big difference from NYC."

"I've lived in this neighborhood for 12yrs and it has gotten much more congested. With the heavier flow of traffic and crimes going around, the neighborhood isn't being a neighborhood anymore."

"I turned 16 in this neighborhood, went in military from there, and got married while living in this neighborhood. Our neighbors, we all owned our homes. Such a nice, clean, and bright neighborhood. we loved it here. Don't live in Clinton Hill."

"Crime is very high here. Otherwise, the airport is closer and it’s not very far from New York City. Park your car here and take the trains to New York City . It’s very cheaper and faster that way. "
