"This is more of a retired community. If people do have children their kids are safe here They can ride their bikes. The schools here are good. I’d raise my kids here but my kids are already grown "

"Small town, coastal community. most businesses are local merchants. The closest larger towns are Wilmington to the north and Myrtle Beach to the south. Love the small town community. "

"there is a big drug problem here. This is more a cheap beach retirement place. The town government has spent too much money and our waterbills are base, 125.00"

"Not many people here during the slow season. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, be prepared for higher numbers...but even with the higher amounts of people here, you’ll still have 30’ of beach to your left and right, forward and back all to yourself!!"

"We love living on the island! We’re a quick drive (0.2 miles) or walk to the beach. We get a parking decal for being residents so we always have a parking spot even in the midst of the summer rush. Beaches are nearly vacant all year long and you can’t beat the temps, sun, water, and breeze. "

"The scenic walk-ways, over the canal and to the beach, are a real plus. There's one at 9th st SE, as well as 20th and 31st. The drive-overs, of course, are 40th and Middleton. Middleton also gives access to my favorite, "corner store", the Beach Pantry, and, going north, the new bridge. "
