4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent of two students who have gone through Hickory High School, I am saddened to say that I am very disappointed with the education that my second child has received. It's as if some of the teachers there do not care whether the students understand the material or not. The state needs to review the data and analyze the effectiveness of teachers who have a high percentage of students failing in their classrooms. It's one thing to know the material that you are supposed to teach and an entirely different thing to be able to teach it to fluency/mastery.Parent Review9y ago - W M Jenkins Elementary

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've been at this school for three school years now and I admit the principle when we got there wasn't that great however the new principle is a black woman and I love her. Having my black child see someone who looks like her in a position of power is definitely eye opening and wonderful for my child to see that she too can do whatever she wants. I cannot agree with all the other comments about how low income students are falling behind etc because for one we aren't low income however I can say that this school along with my effort as a parent has helped my child go from struggling/failing to being back on track and excelling. Jenkins elementary is a great school and I will be sending all my children here.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 411 32nd Avenue Dr NW.

"I hate my neighborhood. I’m on the app trying to move out of Hickory. This is a small town, everyone knows everyone or knows someone who knows something on someone. I’m not from here and moved for a job. You just get trapped here. The job market is awful, housing is terrible, and it’s a very conservative area."

"It is not in the city limits. We are visible from the road, but have woods for privacy at the back of the house where the pool is. "
