4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageReally great school with so many interests and clubs for your kid. I'm blown away I hadn't heard more about this school before we attended. Music recording, coding, theatre arts, all the clubs you can imagine, foreign languages! All teachers can reach EV or AIG. Small class sizes which allows the staff to really get to know your kid. It's a phenomenal school!Parent Review6mo ago - Holt Elementary Language Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has had an outstanding experience at Holt the past 6 years with our oldest two children. We hope to be at Holt for the next 8 years until our younger two children have completed each grade. The leadership, Donya Jones and the assistant principals, are all outstanding and responsive. They are on top of issues as much as they can be and keep things positive. There is a huge range of where students are academically, but the school does a lot of differentiating so that kids get AIG services, ESL services, and remediation all within the school day.Parent Review2y ago - Neal Middle

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy students have grown academically as well as athletically by my and my husband staying an active and staying in close communication with teachers and administrators. I believe that by showing we are a family that gives 3 cares about their children we have made strides in the way that the teachers interact and tend to our students. Most students aren't getting that attention to detail.Parent Review4y ago - Southern School of Energy and Sustainability

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStudents at this school are given opportunities to decide on whether they want to 4 areas of study-Biomedical, Business, Computer Engineering or Construction Technology. There is also a Skills Pathway where students graduate with a certificate that they can use to get a job when they leave high school. The faculty and staff are dedicated to the success of all students. I will highly recommend this school.Parent Review1y ago - R N Harris Elementary

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe were only able to be at RN Harris for one year and then moved out of the area.I would say this is a very child centered school. My child responded very well to this environment. The staff were very responsive to parent communication at all levels. The school worked closely with local organizations to make sure kids went home with food during school breaks. This demonstrated to me that the school staff were aware of the needs of their students outside of school hours as well.We miss you guys!Parent Review1y ago - J D Clement Early College High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis past year has been difficult for everyone, but especially for high school seniors. The support that we have received from the school's leadership, faculty, and staff have made it much better. The weekly updates from Principal Woods-Weeks keep everyone motivated. They really give us a sense of normalcy in this virtual environment. We joke about the reminder to wear school colors on Fridays, especially since we're at home! :)Now for the two pillars of strength that have consistently guided our child all along the way:1) Ms. Harris (9th Grade English Teacher, National Honor Society) made an impression with our family on Day One. Our child often talks about never getting a break because the same things that we say at home get reinforced by Ms. Harris. She is exactly what our child needs to stay on the course of excellence in high school AND college! Ms. Harris has written many letters of recommendation for college admission and scholarship applications. We are confident that her words will be the deciding factor for pending awards.2) Ms. Rankins (Counselor) is the ultimate energizer bunny! She never wavers from keeping students informed and on track for success. I follow the Remind app group that she created for the class. I can't imagine that anyone would miss out on the amazing opportunities that she shares. My friends who have students at other schools envy our process. The key to this school's success is the high bar that is set for the students and the commitment of those who are tasked to help them achieve excellence. The loving support with high expectations is greatly appreciated. Even though we are not in the building, we still see how their hard work is paying off for everyone who follows their process. Congratulations to the Class of 2021!Parent Review3y ago - Hillside New Tech High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child has witnessed numerous fights and we’re only halfway through the school year. The administration doesn’t seem to do much about it. We’ve known several families that have left because their IEPs were not well-supported. There are many academically gifted children but only a few teachers with limited availability to support needs; there isn’t support from the administration to develop solutions for this group of kids. The teachers are great but SVE could benefit from a new Principal.Yes, kids at SVE are improving. But all kids coming out of the pandemic are improving. Believe this eating with caution.Parent Review3mo ago - Middle College High School @ Dtcc

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has had a fantastic experience at Middle College HS. While she loved the flexibility and independence that Middle College provided, she also became deeply engaged in the clubs and social activities offered by the school- even during COVID. We so appreciate the support she received from these club advisors and the counselors who guided her through her final years of high school and the college application process. My daughter will graduate high school with an associates degree in arts and will attend a four year college in the fall. We are thrilled with the knowledge, confidence, and life skills that she gained at Middle College and enthusiastically recommend the school.Parent Review2y ago - City Of Medicine Academy

"It is a well established community that is weathering the storm that afflicts a city in sudden sporadic growth We will weather this storm and any other . This place is called Home to many whom have lived here through Three or more generations and many newcomers who chose to make this place their new home. I wish I could find an appropriate rental here. I am on the edge in a house I have afforded to live in for twenty-nine yrs. The house was recently sold and I find that I may be under the bridge at age 79 due to so-called gentrification . Durham is known for undermining it's citizens in the name of progress. It's a backhanded way of doing things but it will come out alright because the so-called little people come together when they realize what is happening."
