3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are a small portion of African American teachers. Minority students are not treated fairly. Some teachers are not dedicated to teaching students and do not promptly follow up with parents regarding concerns. The administrators to include principal and assistant principals tends to take the teacher's side regarding a parent's concern not having fair judgment are taking in to consideration what's in the best interest of the student. Administrative Assistants are rude and unprofessional. I was there for a visit. The administrative assistants were having a conversation among themselves and did not acknowledge me until five minutes later. Guidance Counselors are difficult to reach and do not seem to be actively engaged with the student or parent's regarding concerns. I would not recommend this school. It is one of the worst High Schools in Gaston County School systems.Parent Review8y ago - William C Friday Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is an absolute joke. The lack of communication between staff and parents is almost non existent. The lack of communication between the principal, assistant principal, redirect coordinator, is laughable. The disrespect I received as a parent from this staff is unacceptable. If I were to speak at my job to our customer the way this staff has spoken to me I would have, at the very least, been written up. They do not handle situations in a timely manner or correctly. It is no wonder that the kids behave the way they do at this school when the staff doesn't seem to behave any better. My child has been ridiculed by the staff here yet they turn around and expect my child to be respectful at all costs. Absolutely not! Not only does my child not feel welcome or respected in this environment, neither do I. It is a real shame because their band program is absolutely amazing, but we can no longer subject ourselves to the mental anguish and disrespect that continues to come out of this school. My child actually said this place feels like a prison with all the fights that continue to go one every week, the clicks that happens, the staff having their favorites and the ones that they single out i for every little thing. How can you succeed in a place that doesn't even believe in you? I hope that this administration can get it together because I'm absolutely sure that my child is not the only one feeling this way. Middle school is hard enough. This school could really benefit from having a speaker brought in to do an assembly and really teach these kids about respect, kindness, and love. Because they aren't being taught this through the words or the actions of the staff around then. And we wonder why suicide rate is up, we wonder where the respect is, we wonder why there are fights every other day, we wonder why there are kids getting high in the bathroom, we wonder all of these things and yet it doesn't seem that the staff is concerned about any of this. What a shame and a wasted opportunity for the Dallas community.Parent Review10mo ago - Check out schools near 707 S Chestnut St.

"I have lived in my neighborhood for for 30 years and its still as peaceful and quiet as it was when I was a child. The neighbors are polite, friendly, and over all great. It's within walking distance for the middle school and high school where both my children attended. "

"Lots of families and kids and they run through our yard constantly. Definitely getting a fence at the next place. The kids also try to get in our house.. not sure what they’re thinking. Neighbors also have over flowing trash that flies into our yard.. and stays there. They also don’t know how to take care of their dogs. They either string them up outside and leave them while they cry for an hour or so or they just let them free roam in the streets, in our yard, etc. "

"Big dog park. The dogs bark all night long and it’s getting annoying. You can walk dogs for free at the dog park "
