5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I knew 4 years ago, what I know today, I would not have enrolled my children in this school. There are a handful of good teachers at Stevensville High School, mostly in the English department. The math department is lacking, especially in the higher-level Honors and AP classes. My student had a teacher admit that they weren’t qualified to teach the AP course they were taking, that they had never taught the curriculum. The administration in the HS has seen a lot of turnover, the previous and current school principals are ineffective at best. They are once again looking for an assistant principal at the high school, I have heard from many that it is a difficult environment to work in.Stevensville is the only school in the area with declining enrollment, all other schools in the surrounding area have seen enrollment numbers climbing. SHS also has a huge drop out rate, students either completely dropping out or choosing to finish their schooling online. The high school is also dealing with a high absentee rate among students, many students are extremely bored and don’t feel engaged by their teachers. With the current budget shortfall (over $700,000) the school has to make cuts that will definitely affect the quality of the education that will be provided. The school board and the previous superintendent should bear the weight of these issues. It will be an uphill battle for the superintendent.Parent Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 4003/4001 Wildfowl Ln.
