6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was raised in Beaverhead County and attending middle school and high school in Dillon. There is a slight bias towards athletes, but only because many of the teachers are also coaches who have therefore developed strong relationships with the athletes. The A.P. courses taught were excellent and I was prepared for the tests and received 4-5 on all of them. The administration is focused on providing a good education on their minimal budget. The school has experienced a massive drop in enrollment from a high of 575 students in 1997 to around 350 in 2013. This has impeded some of the class choices as funding is limited, but not to a large degree. This is a cohesive school with a strong community that is extremely supportive of the athletic and scholastic programs. Compared with Lima, Twin Bridges, Sheridan, or even Butte and Butte Central, these is the best school in S.W. "Great area for kids to ride bikes around the block. People do seem to drive around pretty crazy sometimes but are usually careful when kids are around I’ve noticed. Super friendly people in and around the town. YMCA is great for kids. Seems like a lot are there during the summer for camp. Highly recommend getting into fly fishing. Some of the best fishing I have ever seen. I’ve lived for for 3 years as a college student. Most things are in walking distance. "

"Small town atmosphere with both the positives and negatives. Easy access via one main arterial street with most others in terrible condition, western flavored rural town of lifted pick ups hauling dogs, college kids and extended multi-generational families where everyone knows everyone and likely related in some way. Low crime, low cultural and entertainment options, good outdoor opportunities, limited shopping and products available, relatively moderate and semi-arid climate and haphazard zoning mix are some prominent items. A fringe benefit is the daily fire siren test so we know when it's lunchtime. The town has stayed small for some reason.... "
