Inspired by the glorious chateaus of France, 5211 Washington Place is a sophisticated and luxurious retreat that reflects that magical merging of inspiration and Beaux-arts architecture. Built in 1897, the estate is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship featuring onyx fireplace surrounds, oak-paneled circular grand entry hall, intricately-hand-painted 2nd-floor fireplace surrounds, music room festooned with ceiling & wall textured floral garlands, 2nd floor reception hall with inlaid parquet floor, Flemish oak-paneled dining room, exquisite chandeliers & sconces, plus leaded-glass-fronted bookcases throughout. Sprawling entertaining spaces flow to a glorious East-facing tiled sunroom, and then outside to two decks, expansive yard with landscaped gardens, and 2-car garage with charming 2-BR carriage house apartment. Situated on an oversized 109-ft-wide lot, and crowned with an extraordinary slate & copper roof (installed in 2014), 5211 is the crème de la crème of Washington Place.

"Most businesses are pet friendly and there are always people walking their dogs around. People are friendly in passing and always stop to pick up trash or aide someone who is in some sort of distress "

  • Trulia User
"For dog owners, it’s very safe to walk them at night. Usually very well lit and police are around every so often. Trash cans available all over for cleaning up after your dog. Only thing that can be an issue is the sidewalks are a bit skinny if you have a dog who maybe isn’t the most dog friendly. I can imagine that would pose a problem as I’ve had to walk in the street to avoid a barking dog more than once. Never had an issue, though. Owners all do a great job of controlling their furry friends. "
