1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent that currently has a student at Roosevelt. I feel it had vastly improved over the years. I attend every parent-teacher conference, email, have one on one talks with the teachers and other staff and everyone I’ve encountered have been very pleasant and helpful. The teachers really want to teach and guide and not just show up for work. I believe the school is overall getting better and offers a lot of opportunities for students for college, trade schools, and social/emotional growth.Parent Review1y ago - Sigel Elementary Community Ed. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSchool has been gutted of funding and community support by loss of attendance due to large presence of charter schools in area. School is not supported by district effectively to address behavioral issue, safety or special education. Teachers and staff fight hard for students here, get burnt out and then leave. If your kid has an IEP, I suggest changing zip codes, as SLPS does not have Special School District and does all their IEPs in house and support isolation of students with disabilities instead of integration. Lack of resources increases disparities among marginalized youth, students are actively going through trauma while in the building itself and there is only one counselor and one part-time Social Worker who have way too much on their plate. Probably one of the most violent places I have ever worked, and its an elementary school. School has been unable to get a PTO to form over the years, hindering their ability to involve parents and community.Other Review7mo ago - Check out schools near 2853 McNair Ave.

"It's got covens, underground caves, an underused park, large vacant buildings, an arsonist at large, drones buzzing around at night with the bats. Restaurants and businesses open unannounced to residents and make no attempt to secure neighborhood patronage by a special or coupon or look at menu, probably then wonder why there's not much business.Wish there was a grocery nearby like a Trader Joes."

"I visit Benton Park regularly. I go to restaurants and shop in the area. I love walking my dog in the park. Neighborhood folks are friendly."

"Interesting architeture, diversity of residents, some of the best restaurants in the city, active community events, beautiful parks, and affordable housing. Benton Park is the best place to live in St Louis for anybody of any age. Personally I have a toddler and she loves all the parks within walking distance. She loves to feed the ducks at Benton Park and eat pretzels from Gus'. Venice Cafe is simply a work of art. Best of all are all the events put on by the community, summer concert series in the park, a 5K race and a bicycle race. People who live here are engaged in their community and making St Louis a wonderful place to live. "

"Love our neighborhood. We have lived here going on 7 years. Fine neighbors who have lived on this street a life time and are as freindly to us as if we too had been here that long."

"I am on a private street that is adjacent-walking distance- over the bridge to Soulard, Vincents market (15 minute walk), fab restaurants and PET FRIENDLY dog walkers everywhere. A true neighborhood! Finally!!! The whole area has been designated a federal historical district. A true historic neighborhood-Architecture of this Soulard/Benton park area makes this a truly unique neighborhood. The polar opposite of the cookie cutter west county burbs-if that is your taste-go there. The homes here are as individual and magnificent as are its residents."
