What Locals Say about Lees Summit

"It’s pretty, calm and quiet mostly. Kids will be kids. Don’t be deceived because most parents here have the financial resources to overcome any issues. There are limited options for those who are less fortunate. There is also a high expectation for parent involvement in schools, considering most parents work."

"Tough on Pitbull breed. Few dog parks which are nice. Animal control people that I have been in contact with are very professional. My dog barks a lot and had a complaint. They were understanding and just asked me to handle it. If they pick up a loose dog they will make every attempt to try to get dog home rather than straight to pound. Scan chips, call tag #s, etc."

"No special events, just good people. We will visit at holidays and always be willing to help each other out if someone needs something around house. You feel comfortable introducing yourself and trusting your neighbors to look out for you and your property. "

"I've lived here since 2000. core neighbors have been here at least that long. maybe 25-30% have moved away. lots of dog walkers, dog park nearby, grocery store and small strip mall within half mile. A very easy walk. BBQ and Mexican restaurant within a half mile walk, too, and they are very good. Always busy. Gas within a mile, schools, churches within a half mile, too. "

"We have a wonderful hidden gem in our neighborhood. Miller J Fields is a park nestled within the housing development with multiple diamonds, walking trail, musical instruments built in the play areas, 2 pavilions, and a number of umbrella covered tables. It also homes a free splash pad that is amazing! Ample parking with no thru traffic to top it off! "
