1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageso ive had my first year and i just want to come on here and say that this school is HORRIBLE. about 12 fights the FIRST week of school and that wasnt even all. about half of the school wanted to fight me and my bestfriend because they had MY name in their mouth. teaching is also not good here. this new rule they are making about the phones is not going to change anything. most of the kids that disrupt the class dont even have a phone and dont do work. how do yall think its going to change just because yall are putting phones in a pouch.?Student Review8mo ago - Commons Lane Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Principal (Ms. Martin) and Assistant Principal (Mr. Wright) have been amazing with assisting the children and addressing parent concerns. They take the time to involve themselves with each kid in their care. They know student by name and can also speak directly with parents concerning the needs of their individual student without having to consult with the teacher or look in a file. They team with teachers to provide them with support as well. They also have different hands on programs to assist children who are struggling with different subjects or assessments. They make these children feel elite and special, as oppose to approaching them as failing and unresponsive children. They are very hands on and it shows in how the kids light up when they see them. The office staff are a bit challenging though, some days they are friendly, other days not so much. Communication is a bit abrasive but I don’t think it’s meant in a malicious manner. They also make it a point to know students by name and assist them as well. Their passion shows through from that perspective. Overall, Commons Lane is a great school for students to excel in learning with a touch of the nurturing care they are custom to receiving at such a young age.Parent Review1y ago - Mccluer North High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was an early graduate senior this year. I've gone through virtual learning all sophomore year and most of junior year. As someone with a 504 plan, neurodivergence and mental issues that are more so behavioral and mood related, I've struggled drastically with this school. As far as learning? No one wants to learn. If they do, they're usually pressured by their parents or it's in a topic they like WITH a teacher they like that suits their learning style. Everyone wanted to stay at lunch or skip class because class was not entertaining. It wasn't anything that was keeping your attention or even teaching you anything.Teaching was iffy. There are a lot of teachers there that retire or leave for another school each year. I definitely think it's the school itself and the administration that causes it. STEAM was where a lot of teachers were going because there was just better opportunity there. Lots of the teachers don't care about your learning style if it's any different from theirs and the few that care often leave or you have them one year and that's it.Emotional support in this school is a joke. You have one counselor per grade and maybe a grief counselor sometimes and that's it. The counselor I had was sweet as hell, Mrs. Speak, but it was just her.Special education I can't speak on.Safety is their last concern it seems. So far the 2.5 years at McCluer North, there has been gun threats on the school almost every other month. It started to be everyday. There have been kids coming on campus with guns in their car after being suspended, a loaded gun on campus, etc. My mom, a grown woman, was buzzed into the building without ANY question of who she was. Security joke around with students instead of breaking up fights. They leave that to the teachers don't worry. Slurs are thrown around, fire alarms trigged by smoking in bathrooms. Bathroom fights, etc. They don't care about your safety enough to install metal detectors cuz it can hurt their image but they'll include clear backpacks cuz it makes it look like they care and don't use common sense to realize that- well- kids can bring them in their jackets, waistbands or cars and walk in so easily? Also, fights daily. One of my teachers said there were 15 fights one day, I witnessed 4 fights in one lunch period back to back. All in 10 minutes. My family knew nothing about each gun threat either. I had to tell them. We did get several calls about prom though, if that makes you feel better.Don't go here.Student Review1y ago - Check out schools near 695 Stafford Ln.
