What Locals Say about Belton

"Belton has plenty of very family-friendly neighborhoods. there are some less desirable ones, as in every town, but the good outweigh the bad here by a landslide. The schools are above average and like the cities economy they're only getting better. "

"No access to public transportation. Car or working legs is a must. The main drag of 58 highway is usually a mess because of all the stop lights. But if you know the back roads it is easily avoidable. "

"High Crime Rate. High Drug Availability. 58 Highway is very congested. Schools seem invested in their kids. "

"Traffic up 71-N to downtown or surrounding areas during rush hour is a nightmare. The roads are all currently being completely redone which is really nice though. "

"This neighborhood is dog friendly. I see people walking their dogs all the time on the sidewalk. I don’t hear dogs barking all hours if the night as it’s a pretty quiet neighborhood. "

"Belton is a nice area that isn't too busy or overpopulated. You can still get around town pretty easy without a lot of traffic. The schools are good and overall the Belton/Raymore area is family-friendly. There are plenty of conveniences, but the one thing I wish there were more of is decent restaurants. There are a lot of fast food places, but not really much for sit down places with any kind of atmosphere. The parks and rec do a great job and the community center is really nice."

"I lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years, moved away then came back and lived there for another 10 years. Neighbors are friendly, streets are safe and fun to sled down when it snows and it's a good area to raise a family. Belton is a nice suburb of Kansas City and there's nothing "big city" about Belton. I've lived in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Miami and Manhattan and prefer the big city life, but Belton has nice memories for me and I recommend it for a nice town to raise children. Belton schools aren't on any top 10 lists, but your child will receive a decent education to get into any college of their choice. And if all else fails, well, there's Richard Gabar Air Force Base. Main Street needs to change the street name to Dead Street, and North Avenue should be named Main Street. "

"Small farm community now part of the metro community. 50,000 more or less in Belton-Raymore community. Above average schools, livable community, number of shopping areas and continued growth. Descent job market for skilled and committed workers. Not a bad area in which to live and raise family. "
